Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.
The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

It's hard to take a sci-fi seriously when the aesthetic is something in constant flux, it would be like the Millennium Falcon changing in every Star Wars film without reason and us viewers being expected to just roll with it.
Exactly!
But just because games change/improve their graphics, it's suddenly ok, and understandable.. It's like theres some kind of consensus that if you have more polygonz, it's ok to redesign/reimagine stuff, instead of just trying to match the original concept art. The entire H:Anniversary is a good example.
Side note: I dread the day someone decides to remake something like MDK..
"look guys, this game hardly has any complex geometry, we can't sell something that's this simple; people wont be impressed by the sparse environments, lets redesign the entire game!"
Instead of just laying all power on surfaces, lighting, and effects. -__-
As if this is anything new...
At all...So, what's your point? Just cause it's always been that way doesn't mean I like it. Nor that one should, or that it's good for the industry.
If you've designed something, stick with it, if people don't like how the IP looks, they don't like it. No need to alienate those who did. (although sometimes it might be necessary to tweak the design into working with improved graphics, but thats a consequence, not a will, and as long as that's admitted, it's fine).
