Ok....

What kind of Halo player isn't a huge, rabid fan of Bungie's inspired level Lockout?

Anyway, if you aren't a militant advocate of this splendid maze of exciting tactical brilliance and breath-taking combat then I have a suggestion. Purchase a large wet fish. Strip to the waist. Begin a daily routine of self-flagellation with said fish until you see this map's UTTER PERFECTION. Rejoice once cleansed of your former ignorance.

I digress.

But why rejoice? Ok....deep breath...LOCKOUT IS COMING TO HALO 3 (maybe...perhaps)

Now....this HAS NOT been confirmed by Bungie. That said, I feel I can confidently state that Frankie's latest post gives us a rather major clue. Major enough, in fact, to begin the party and start cheering.

Here's the important bit:

'We'll continue to tweak playlists and keep matchmaking fresh for the foreseeable future and as you can imagine, tracking the results of all this data is a fantastic way to find out what people do and don't like about Halo and incorporate some of that data in Halo 3 for a lovely matchmaking experience there too. And Lockout of course, remains the favorite map' (Frankie the Awesome Bald One, WU: 06/09/06)

So... they pay close attention to what people do and don't like. They use this as a guide as to what might be put back into Halo 3 (albeit a little reworked). They have noticed that Lockout is VERY POPULAR.

Look at the thought behind this statement. Look at the manner Frankie introduces that last point.

People....LOCKOUT is coming back. It is. Rejoice.

To conclude. Recently I was thinking whether I would choose Halo 3 over the World Cup. Now...you have to understand....England are probably goin to do real well at this one. I was shocked when I came to a decision without much thought at all. I would ACTUALLY CHOOSE HALO 3 OVER WATCHING THE WORLD CUP.

Bungie are therefore evil.

Sure I like lockout, but I don't like it over anything else.

Pretty much, the general populace enjoys slayer more than objectives, and so enjoy a map not un-like rat race in Halo 1 called Lockout. The many routes and paths lead to great slayer matches.

Hmmm.... try a good sized salmon.

It's probably worth noting that Bungie wouldn't simply put Lockout into Halo 3 with no changes.

If they put Lockout back into Halo 3 (or should I say WHEN... because THEY ARE) then they'll obviously tweak it and dolly her up.

Look....we all get bored of a good thing after a while. That said, think of the Lockout we'll see (because we will) in Halo 3 as your girl/wife all dressed up after a year of seeing her in nothing but overalls. Yes...YOU KNOW the feeling. Well.... that is the feeling Lockout in Halo 3 shall bring (to your loins)

I have NO IDEA what you are talking about.

Perhaps you posted in the wrong thread. Perhaps you just cursed me with some voodoo.

Either way.... thanks for scaring me.

Now you see I never will become enlightend as to the true beauty of Lockout, because I am a tactitian, and Lockout is better for chaos, not tactical manouvers.
Lockout is a great map, but I would not say it is the best, as there are many strong contenders.

Lots of people hate Foundation, but I personally like it as the only way to win is to work as a team, not individuals. Most people act as individuals and enjoy just killing (hence team slayer), but I work with a team for the greater victory through tactics and strategy!

I would like to see Lockout and Bloodgulch in H3, others are just a bonus.

Hey man.....glad to hear your views on playing as a team. I'd have to agree with you on your observations regarding Team Slayer in general.

I have to admit to being stumped on your view on Lockout as a non-tactical map. My experiences have consistently confirmed this map as the leading map for tactics available. Then again, it can also be chaotic.... like you say.

Anyway, I respect your view dude. You could try the fish thing if you want. Just for a day or two. If you don't want to it's cool though.

Peace

I really hope Lockout makes it to H3. I pretty much play that map at LANs more than anything else. It's just a well-designed map.

I remember when I used to play MM and hear all the disappointed cursing from the pregame lobby when we had to play on Waterworks, but I had no idea that there was so little love for it!

Sure, I love Lockout. I love 'em all. Having said that, I used to have so much fun playing things like multi-bomb on Waterworks. 'Twas a blast.

(Before the new map packs, that is.)

I don't really like Lockout, especially in lieu of the plethora of other great maps (Zanzibar, Foundation, Colossus.) Plus, one of my acquaintances that routinely rocket whores and snipes is very fond of Lockout, so I must dislike it on principle.

Well....haven't I got my finger on the pulse of the Halo fan community!!!

Seriously, everybody I play with considers it a FLAWLESS map and easily the best.

Glad some people have different views though :-)

I'm all about CTF shotties on Colossus. As long as their are at least 8 players, it's a blast.

It is a big map, but its not. The multi tiered level is rather easy to get across and to any point on the map with a few simple jumps. There is more then one way to get anywhere on the map. There is one place where this doesn't hold true. Where the pistols are. There is only one way down.

Part of the genius.

Well yeah that is part of it. Another part is the feel of the map. The snow, the outside portion being blue, and the whole cliff the instalation is on. It is rather breathtaking if you think about it.

I hope bungie uses the same texture and feel for another map that is more complex. They could make it bigger, by removing the Blue room, and adding more platforms. Rearanging the map would be cool too, but the classic Lockout is a must.

We shall be victorious. I feel it in my bones. It is our destiny.

Roooooooooooooney.

(Come to think of it...it is a good thing Bungie aren't forcing me to miss watching England KICK EVERY ASS THEY PLAY)

Lockout is pretty sweet. No doubt. Hang 'Em High, definitely the best map of the two Halo games. I really hope Hang 'Em High makes a return to H3. I really enjoy Sanctuary and Terminal as well.
