I seen the E3 video and noticed that it took him about 1.5 to 2 seconds to actually lock on to the target. When he was zoomed the reticle was red, but it only showed the little circle that says locked or something like that after about 2 seconds. Even though I hate how good it can actually track this makes it a bit better.

No one in any articles have seen to complain about the feature so I'm guessing people are overestimating how well the rocket will actual track...

It only tracks while zoomed, if you don't want to track then don't zoom, but I still hope they have a toggle option for this feature, there may be times where I don't want to play with it.

That little circle that you refer to, Mast3r Chief, does not appear to have anything to do with a target lock in my opinion. That circle appears blue when a weapon's clip or magazine is low on ammo. A red circle appears when you are completely out of ammo for that weapon. I also saw a yellow circle which may mean your down to your last clip. If you watch the video again you will may see a blue circle appear while he was using the battle rifle to destroy the ghost the elite was riding. The target lock seemed reasonably accurate but I'm sure there are limitations on it.

Its not like you can fire a rocket while facing 180 degrees to the warthog and you have it locked and fire right when it starts to pass u and itll whip a u turn guys.. Bungie clearly stated somwhere that it does have limitations to rane (you cant lock onto a banshee have way across the level and let it flie) and the turning radious is limited.

well that is why it takes 1 or 2 seconds to lock, it gives you that window to shoot straight. not to mention why would you have the reticle over the warthog anyway. if you are going to shoot a moving warthog without tracking you would have to aim a few inches ahead of it anyway, so you couldn't lock because the aiming reticle has to be on the warthog (lets use warthog for discussion purposes) to lock on. in reality, you are able to use the rocket launcher as originally intended just as easy as it is to lock on (maybe easier)

I think whoever it was that said "Bungie is good at keeping balance, every weapon has its flaws" is right, BUT, what about the needler. Its so sooped up if you grab two of them you've got rapid fire, explosive(if you get like 18 needles in someone) AND tracking, (i think the needles go faster in Halo 2) All the needler needs is a scope and its the perfect weapon.

Like the guy said earlier, bungie is good about having balance in the game. The RL won't be all powerfull. It will have limitations.
