Let's say I make a thread with two options in the poll. Next to each option in the poll would be a list you could click on. When you click on that list, a mini window comes up that shows the usernames of the people who voted for that option (similar to when you click on the "friends online" hyperlink below your username). I think this would be neat because I'd know who is lurking and I'd get to know the community better by becoming aware of what they think.

Would you like this feature in the new hawtness?

I ♥ Bungie!

I agree with Duffy there, I would hate for people to judge me on how I voted too, plus the list would be long.

  • 06.17.2012 2:17 PM PDT

I don't want anyone to know I voted Ken in that contest.

Oh wa--

  • 06.17.2012 2:17 PM PDT

No, anonymity for the win. ;)

We should know better, because we are better.

If I wanted people to know what I voted I would post it in the thread.

Questions lead to learning, learning leads to kowledge, knowledge leads to understanding, understanding leads to peace.

"I would kill to get a killionaire... 10 times... digitally."

And then get hatemail if you choose not to say what you voted for in the thread. No thankyou.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

Nope, there is something nice about anonymous polls, plus is there any need to see who voted for each option?

I like his idea, but only as an option. you would be able to choose between being anonymous or not. But at that point its kinda more work than needed lol :)

Five exclamations marks are a good signifier of an insane mind. As is trying to hide from Death in an airtight room. Silly wizard.

No way. That would defeat the whole purpose.Plus, with polls sometimes getting over 200 votes, the list would be really, really long.

#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

Its supposed to be anonymous.

You don't have to click on the list.

You don't have to click on the list.

But if you wanted to, you would still be looking at potentially hundreds of names. What purpose would it serve at all?

What do you want then? Do you just want to see some of the voters?

No.

That would break the privacy of the voter.
Why are you implying you had any to begin with?

None would be preferable.

Then don't click on the hyperlink to the list.

The whole point of the poll is the anonymity.

No, the point of the poll is to be a quick way to find out what the general community thinks. A lot of people don't want to scroll the entire thread and tally.

Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

No, due to whatever it's called when one knows they are being watched.

If one knew that any given person could look at their vote they might conform to the majority becasueof a fear of backlash. The feature you want is perfectly fine for a small community, but Bungie.net is not.

DeeJ's Challenge

Having names next to each option is obviously not a good idea. What about if we just had who had voted next to the entire poll so that we can see who voted?

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Says who?

None of you know what the intent behind it is, so it's probably not a good idea to pass off your suppositions as fact. Just because anonymous voting is used in English speaking countries (in actual elections and not B.net polls) does not mean it is the best system. There are variety of people who are actually against it on the grounds that it's just another mechanism for people to hide behind. If you're expressing your opinion via a vote (poll) you should be able to justify and defend it.

I'm not saying people should be going after one another, but if SKenAlt252 is voting for a particular user it would probably be a good idea to question his motivations.

Um...what? That's what I suggested.

And above post hit the nail right on the head.
