One problem about your surface area theory, this is the year 2525, not 1940. In current day jet warfare, there is almost no dogfighting anymore. Most battles are over before they happen, like with aircraft such as the lockheed raptor. I sense that the furture will lie in larger aircraft with more firepower, capable of launching many self guiding missles. As our ability to fly higher and higher grows, Ground fire would pretty much be factored out, so surface area, has almost no bearing.
There are two large problems with what you say. Your suggesting that ariel warfare wil in essence be fought by lauching missiles from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world. For exapmple hitting Iraq with a missile lauched from the United States. The first problem is the missile's fuel, but that is the lesser of the two. The second is the very prominent one. Now aday intercontinental balistic missiles are very large missiles like three ton explosives and dormant nuclear missiles. Satellite imagery is negatively affected by position and weather. However when your lauching a missile with the capabilty of destrying city blocks the your dont need perfect accuarcy. When you launch a small missile like a 500 pound warhead you need accuracy for efficiency. The only place you can get such efficiency is to launch it form soemthing that is on the scene. Such as a fighter jet, and better yet, a fast fighter jet that can hold alot of missiles.
