Subject: Halo: Forward Unto Dawn trailer - something we've all missed.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Hi all,

So I was rewatching the E3 footage for Halo 4 (as one does) and in seeing the trailer at the start for the Forward Unto Dawn live action series, I noticed something that has not been noted by anyone to my knowledge.

Look at 0:48-0:53, you can clearly see the inverted Didact symbol flickering on all the screens.

So what can we learn from this? We now know that the Infinity didn't crash, it was forced down to Requiem - which says to me that the Forerunners are building up some kind of obssession with humans. First with Mendicant Bias sending John there but now with the Infinity being pulled down, seems like they've got some kind of plan for us because you'd suppose that most other ships would be intercepted and destroyed by the Shield World's defense mechanism - this just seems like a pretty large amount of effort to go to.

Musings?

Didn't we already know that?

I thought it was assumed that the ship was forced down. Similar to how the Spirit of Fire was forced down on that other Shield World.

Call me Stu

Remember the first terminal in cea it Guilty spark welcomes the Humans to the Halo, and If i'm not mistaken they are the inheritors to all the forerunners left behind. So kind of suggests they would be curious if anything about the humans. e.g(history battling the flood as well as the rest of the history)

This is another theory aswell judging how infiniity didn't crash land means the enemy has no way of interstellar travel so infinity could be a pawn in the enemies hands for a further objective.

He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe.
We are in the hands of infinite power and infinite sadism

Wasnt MC on Dawn,

Forward Unto Dawn os the name of a live action web series that 343i is releasing week by week before Halo 4's launch, if thats what your thinking.

And I honest to God thought everyone already knew this....

  • 06.18.2012 12:23 PM PDT

I run Skirmish!!!

I would def assume that the forunner's are luring the humans there to learn from them or possibly help them find something, but what i do not understand so far is why the infinity was there out of the entire galaxy and galaxies they could have gone to?

  • 06.18.2012 1:24 PM PDT

Has it been confirmed that it is in fact related to Forward Unto Dawn? I thought that it was all just speculation.

Also thought that everyone saw that symbol/knew it was forced down...

I assume it was our first look at Forward Unto Dawn. If it wasn't, then they're really pulling out all the stops for this game.

And, yeah, this was common knowledge.

What I want to know is how did the crew of the Infinity not see this gigantic huge ass metal planet?

They did, but as an exploratory vessel, they were obliged to explore it.

Especially since it was a Forerunner world.

Infinity, ONI's secret top end warship... I laugh every time I read somebody calling it an exploratory vessel.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Well... it´s kind of logical that Dawn was forced down as was Infinity.

And about a Forerunner obsession with humans... I don´t know what to say about that.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Good find, ajw. I didn't think about this before.

The Enterprise was an exploratory vessel. It was also used as a warship, and flagship of the Federation fleet.

Its acting purpose is a ship of exploration. That does not mean that, when the situation arrives, it will not be the UNSC's flagship in a crisis. But until that time, with the only wars being fought being proxy wars and skirmishes, the Infinity's primary purpose is an exploratory vessel.

Really not that hard to figure out.

I'm wondering what the ship 343 took over is. I had thought for a while it was the Infinity, but if it was sent out intentionally it's clear it's not, and we see other ships with it in the trailer.

Who knows, it could still be; I do find it unlikely that the Infinity happens to find Requiem after Master Chief crashes there. Maybe in the Thursday War we'll see more of it. It'd be funny if we spend the whole of Halo 4 seeing ships constantly pop up and crash.

If good looks could kill, I'd be a weapon of mass destruction.

Q: Hey, what did Hitler say to the black jew?
A: Get to the back of the oven.

I don't think this has anything to do with the forward unto dawn series. Except maybe the fact that the trailer was live action.

Forgot about that...

Well if that is the case then it is possible Infinity couldn't turn back even if it wanted too, with Chakas controlling it.

They may not have filmed any reference to Chakas in the Commissioning short so as not to spoil anything for Halo 4, or maybe even Thursday War if it has his reveal there.

And I also don't think Commissioning had anything to do with Forward Unto Dawn. I read somewhere a few days ago that it was filmed in a different location from Dawn.

I wouldn't be surprised if ONI had intentionally planned to have the Infinity absorbed by Requiem.

I wouldn't be surprised if ONI had intentionally planed to have the Infinity absorbed by Requiem.

"Let's spend twenty years and trillions designing the most powerful ship in the UNSC, powerful enough to beat back the Covenant if they take Earth and packed to the brim with Forerunner technology scoured from all corners of UNSC space.

Then we'll chuck it down a blue, glowing drain. For the bants."

It's ONI.

ONI doesn't stand for the Office of the Neurologically Impaired. They've got a shady agenda, but they're not idiotic nor omniscient. I don't think they knew about Requiem at all.
