Here.

I posted this on Jumprs and it seems even the H1 trickers haven't found this one.

Don't know what it could be? Perhaps lowering his shields at that position causes him to sink into a part of the map? Can't tell, wouldn't know. But great find nevertheless, especially for such an old game.

  • 06.18.2012 4:59 PM PDT

So...do you actually know how you did that? Certainly undiscovered as far as I know.

I found it a long time ago. I just didn't report it. I was saving it for when I'd finally give up Halo tricking and just upload epic AI battles.

I've had a considerable amount of time to experiment with it. It's especially fun when I kill the Zealot with a finishing blow from my melee.

Troll in the CE forum? Wow.

I'm a guy.

Also, so this. this, and this are not new?

And this is why I'm leaving Halo tricking. I do all sorts of AI oriented activities and get only a few replies and some haters while everyone else who does it gets a bunch of views and replies... so I try out Reach. And still get nothing but haters. What has the Halo community come to? Love the mediocre things in life, high quality videos, the popular stuff.

I spend hours toiling in Halo games and pinpointing the problems with campaign on various forums and get ignored. Heck, H4 will probably be the same as H3, ODST, and Reach and people will be completely satisfied with how it's campaign turns out. It's always about mp!

So I think I know what I'll do know. I'll go around praising and saying positive things. Let's see how many -blam!- thumbs up, likes, or thanks I get...

It's possible it's due to ricochet. I know that when I stand on top of an Elite and fire the sniper rifle straight down, it hurts me. Then again, the same thing happens if you fire straight at the ground with an AR....

It also happens if you freeze an AI, kill him, walk through him, and fire your gun.

But I don't think that is why, as I can also instant kill him by meleeing. Typically, 11 melees deplete his shield but with this glitch, the 11th melee deals death.

It's a lonely road :(
It's also sad how nobody appreciates campaign glitching, especially AI manipulation, considering how hard it is.

That video was .gif worthy.

And about the Multiplayer vs. Campaign thing, sometimes you just have to accept it. Halo 2 had one of the first sustainable multiplayer, and now that people have something that's new and fresh every time they hit the search button, they have no reason to go back to Campaign.

For example, I flipped out when someone figured out you could hijack a Seraph on LNoS. And then when someone simplified it you had to simply get on the Pelican and EMP a Seraph, I decided I would try it (because the first method was was unpractical and hard).

I rounded up 2 other people to help, one I met it H3, another a month ago in Reach. One would go outside the map and watch to see if EMP'ed Seraphs stayed down or not, another would manage the covies and marines, and the last person would EMP the Seraphs. I was the EMP'er. After a 3rd successful EMP, one stayed down. We both committed suicide and respawned by the guy on the outside. Since this Seraph was a mini, we had to crash it to get more, real-sized ones. We rounded up 3, one for each of us.

And quite honestly, getting that was one of the funnest glitches I had ever done. No moment in multiplayer could ever live up to that. However, most people would consider it too hard and a waste of time. Some argue why not just game-save one in?

TL:DR : People are lazier because of multiplayer, and don't play videogames anymore for the singeplayer.

The burden of knowledge is quite difficult to bear.

Agreed.

Yeah, that's the truth I guess.

Say what now?! Hijacking's possible? How so? I could look into this (I'm nearly close to obtaining Reach. Just a little more M$ points) and find an easier way.

Another way to do it is to just spend a lot of time on the mission.

True.

I admit, I was one of the people who said that it was pointless given that there were modded saves. Though I only consider it a waste of time because there's no checkpoint that you can get after getting one.

Yeah I see what you mean. Mp is much more convenient.

  • 06.19.2012 4:53 PM PDT

Highjacking was a poor choice of words on my part. Sorry, though I have been working towards that to see if its possible.

And I have nothing against modded saves at all. I have used them as well, but sometimes I just like the satisfaction of doing something vanilla.

And after researching the demo (since I heard it had LNoS in it), I'm tempted sell my Reach disk and get the demo. Best Campaign map(LNoS), best multiplayer map (well default anyway, good old Powerhouse FFA), and Overlook.

Well, maybe not, but if I lost my Reach disk, that demo multiplayer playlist sounds amazing.

Neither do I. I use mods to enhance gameplay. In H3, I have dozen of game saves that just plain suck without mods. Combat's just too slowed down. The decision to reduce the grenade count to 2 for only mp's sake (but if there's a reason for campaign, then it has to because of difficulty emphasis) really was fail, which is why I'm glad to see H4 campaign featuring 4 grenades again.

There's no save and quit or skulls.

Customization is severely limited (well actually, it's nonexistent) though the game "taunts" you sometimes by offering you access to customization (emblem, armor color) but if you dismiss the prompt or customization screen, you can never access it again so you'll be stuck with the emblem/armor color you picked.

The Reach demo is the main reason why I didn't like Reach (though now I hate H2 Vista even more than Reach). Nonetheless, I'll be getting Reach soon, for real this time.

Not going to lie. I've tried to be a hardcore MP fan, but there's nothing to it. No originality, no design. It's just a bunch of people killing each other! I don't see how people could pick that over the always fresh campaign experience Halo has to offer.

OT: No new ideas on the glitch, perhaps it is simply a bug due to a scratched disc or whatnot?

Good for you! There are many things wrong with Reach, but the little things make it good. Though one must preserve patience. Maybe you will step up to the pelican launch? few have entered, none have left with their sanity intact.

I'm guessing due to how much the campaign has -blam!- up recently but it could also be an universal effect extending beyond Halo games.

Except the CE I recorded was Games on Demand version. Also, I've tested this in Anniversary.

Thanks!

I can tolerate H2 gameplay but once H2 Vista makes itself known, that tolerance starts to cave in.

If it's only possible on Co-op, I'm afraid not. I like doing setups on Solo. ;)

Btw, I just pwned Tartarus with Angry, Sputnik, Black Eye, Thunderstorm, Armory, Mythic, Catch, Assassins turned on. I'm disappointed that on Legendary, Elite waves are scarce. On the bright side, it means less waiting for Elites to spawn. Beam rifle Elites are also rare. I never encountered one. :(

My small Spec Ops army... was wasted potential. :'( This guy stole all the glory. :/ I was foolish, weak, cowardly, not to place a whole bunch of them on the platform. Then there would have been a show of blue and bright art and green lightning... even if it meant losing them to mindless grenade throwing Brutes, it would've been worth it.

Edit:

*sigh*

Infinite Johnsons glitch will always be the better method. 4 snipers on the windowsill (I haven't tried this yet though) + 3 on the Spectre launched to Tartarus + 1 on the ledge = pure domination

I was a finalist :P

Brilliant videos, Slide. I too enjoy experimenting with AI behaviour and player traits to see what I can come up with in campaign, but no where near an epic scale as to what you accomplish.

As for you beating me up in that video, all I can say is that my armour was malfunctioning; bastard blacksmith used cardboard as the armour rather than the alloy which allows me to take bullets effectively.

Serious Note: How did you get the Zealot down to that section? Did he follow you from the two parallel bridges before the canyon?

Perhaps. ;)

I'll have a tutorial for AotCR Goldie. But if you mean the Two Betrayals Goldie:

To put it in words,

1. Get Goldie stuck on ledge
2. Jump to the other bridge, kill the other Covies
3. Trigger Flood, lure Goldie to door, hiding behind an object if he starts catching up
4. Get to higher ground, get Goldie to fight Flood, prioritize on plasma rifle Flood first then shotgun Flood
5. Clear next room without Goldie, including the infection form swarm behind the door
6. fire gun while maintaining good distance from Goldie to draw Goldie to you
7. For 2nd time on twin bridges, jump to other bridge, destroy Banshees.
Use the pistol on the combat forms then jump back. Spawn and kill the infection form swarm
8. Lure Goldie to door, hiding behind an object if he starts catching up
9. After checkpoint, fire your gun before opening the door and let Goldie get close. There will be feasting infection forms ahead of you and they'll only attack if you fire your gun. When you get Goldie to enter this room, hide and he'll kill them. Hide on the object behind them, show yourself then hide again and he'll run off into the middle of the room. Spawn the Flood carriers and combat forms in this room and kill them. Lure Goldie to the elevator
10. Get him stuck behind the controls by getting him to berserk and crouch jump to safety, preferably with cp delayed

11. Head on down, still delaying it, but fire your gun to get Goldie to move to the right as you go down so he'll be able to get on the elevator next time. Lure at least 1 combat form onto the elevator, shoot off his whip arm. Kill the rest of the combat forms while still delaying the cp if possible. Send up the elevator with the combat form while remaining on the ground
12. Once it's come down, if it has Goldie on it, you can stop delaying cp. But if you can, keep delaying until you reach the room's exit. Save and quit.
13. The hardest part: getting Goldie to remain after the loading point. Best way is to get him as close as possible to the lz.
14. Go outside while luring him. If he doesn't disappear, objective's done. Goldie's down. If not, reset Xbox/Xbox 360.

End result

Of course, this isn't easy. It's a pain in the ass dealing with Flood and especially if you're doing it on Legendary (which is useful since the Zealot will easier to lure). You're better off getting a Goldie stuck on AotCR. But I still have my Two Betrayals videos from last time if you're interested. The audio's messed up so I'll have to mute them.

Well not many people even ask for a tutorial. I'd easily provide one if it was in my interests (stuff like The Covenant rally point bravo AI collection falls in the uninterested category, simply due to how frustrating it was). You wouldn't want to go through the pain of dealing with stupid friendly AI would you? Simply put, the friendly AI in subsequent Halo games are the worst due to how frustratingly difficult it is to control them. They run off without you, they drive off without you, they practically charge into battle instead of using cover or they just end up being in cover all the time due to how severe the enemy is.
