My theory for the Forerunners (I am certain will be proved in H3) are the previous highly advanced Human race. First off look at the similarities in Forerunner architechure/ machienery(spell) (Sentinels) and Halo 1 and 2's Human ship styles. Very bland, gray, with the same stye honey-combed areas sometimes. Secondly look at how the Halo rings are set to Earth's exact gravity (Halo: the Flood) and resemble Earth's varying landscapes. The all foliage and landscapes are much closer in resemblance to Human than to Covenant in appearance. Thirldy and most importantly, 343 Guilty Spark, the Flood, and the "Great Journey". In Halo 1 Sparky has you go through the Library and on multiple occasions calls you "Reclaimer" and in the book (The Flood) another marine had previously attempted retrieving the index. Guilty also reffered to him as "Reclaimer". The deal is it the Moniter requires a Human to activate Halo, that's why he never activated it himself. Also, after the Master Chief resisted activating Halo when Cortana explained to him it would kill everything (Halo 1 cutscene) Sparky replied "Don't you remember? Last time you asked me that if it were my choice, would I do it? Obviously implying that the Human set to activate the rings was doubting if it was worth so many lives. So in essence my theory is The Flood, an advanced human race's biological expirement gone wrong, threatened the universe. Since the "Forerunners" (the previous humans) were losing the war, they constructed the rings to obliterate all life, so the Flood could not spread. But why eliminate the entire human race? The deal is they didn't a small group of people stayed in the Ark (in Africa) and activated the rings. Somehow the Ark protected the small group, and the rest of the "Forerunner" race was eliminated including all technology, which re-started the human race back at square one. The Caveman era. From then to now the human race has re-advanced. Now, the Horrible Cycle must begin again.

I would like to hear your thoughts/ arguments on my thoery (i have been offline for 4 months so i assume i am the first to state it, if not, your thoughts/ counter claims anyway)

Thanks for reading!

(Note:If this is how Halo 3 really ends up, i just put the puzzle pieces together, thats all)
