In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

Hey guys.

I'm beginning to learn Maya now and I was wondering, which tool to Devs usually use to design weapons, armour, etc? It seems to me (I'm basically a noob at this program, so yeah) that it's used for animating scenes. I'm sure that I am wrong though!

I'm however sure that Bungie uses their own created software. But is their some which can be used under a student license which I would use?

3D Studio Max was mentioned in the Halo 3 Legendary Edition, but they could have changed software by now.

they used max all the way back to halo 1 as well.
that's what they did all of their level BSP geometry in.
placement lighting calculations and such were done in a custom tool called sapien, and I forget what gorilla was used for.

Games developers doesn't care what program you have to use. As long as you know how to use it, and how to user your skill and effort into those tools, as well as turning your work in on time, you're fine.
