This isn't exactly a essential feature for the site but I find it a hassle if there is someone I need to contact I have to go searching through 60 pages of members to find there name. Anyways the basic idea works the same as xbox live friend lists people can apply to be your friend and you can send applications to other people. 100 people limit or something like that and the page would look like the live friends page in the profiles but would have the persons name and a pm icon next to it. That would make it nice and easy for people keep in contact and find the people they need to talk to without having to use the community member search. Well that's the basic idea. Good or Bad?

I like the idea. I'm sure you have this problem when you need to promote people over at MBT. It takes ages to search through all the pages of members. A friends list as you suggested, or a member search button would be a god-send.

But nobody likes me... My list would be like walking through bungie during lunch.

some peoples would be like walking through starbucks while bungies on lunch.

yes it really is a hassle when trying to promote someone at MBT or even for me at Thee warriors.

and im sure you have troubles doing it at PopFusion.

There is a search feature for Bungie.net users to find other Bungie.net users.

Not sure how much a friend list would help. After all, if you have such friends, couldn't you just write down their names, and search for them when you need to give them a PM?

I was under the impression that he meant you "bookmark" a series of members, so you could administrate them all at once. Unless I'm mistaken...

Writing down there names and searching for them is a huge hassle when such a script has already been implemented on large forums such as invision and vbulletin such a script modification should be easy for a simpler forum like this one and its conveniant for all the members.

From what I understood, he didn't like that if he wanted to send a Private Message to a specific person, he would have to search through lists of members to find that person.

Is it really?

well thats not good. O well though, you seem to get through all the problems.

But it would be really nice if I could have all my bungie friends in one list and be able to message them

I don't really get it. If you know who specifically you want to contact, it's simple to type their name in the search bar, press the button, go to the profile, and send the PM. It requires about an extra 20-30 seconds of your time. If you want to search for a random person, a friend list wouldn't help in the first place, since you don't know that person.

And it doesn't make logical sense. You don't like the current lists, so you want to add another?

Well when you say it like that....

Anyways let me explain in alittle more detail. A list of 100 people all on the same page so there is not searching. You know who is on your member list and you can contact them fast. Sometimes people have names that have weird spellings or half caps. It really has nothing to do with searching for random people but having a easy way to contact people you want to talk to faster.

And for those people with friends, it will make it easier to talk to them.

I still can't agree with it. From the way I see it, if you need to send someone a PM, chances are either A) you just read a post they made, in which case you have a button which takes you directly to the page to write a PM, or B) you have a method of finding them quickly (groups, past PMs, etc.). I've never heard of an occasion where a person needed to send another person a PM, and had to search through pages and pages of member names to find that member.

Guardian, I get the feeling that if there is this much anti-sentiment, that it won't get implemented. I guess the benefits need to be clearly outlined before Mabian, let alone Achronos, would buy it.

Ok I'll outline a specific situation...
I needed to contact JD1204 who is the web-admin of my website. I haven't received any PMs from him in ages so I can't find him that way. He is also on the 25th or something like that page of members so its really inconvinent to go through all thoughs members. So if I had a friendslist I could just go to it and click on JD and then I'd be able to PM him. Or a even simpler solution if there was a text box to enter someones name to send a PM that would be even easier.

  • 06.10.2006 10:44 PM PDT

I agree. I have this problem in OFG as well, and we've only got about 330 members. Its annoying to have to write down people's names and then play the guessing game to find what page they are on.

Click on the "Community" button at the bottom. The "Find Bungie.net Users" field is right at the top of the page, and it took me 10 seconds to type in JD1204 and get to his profile...

If you are unsure of the spelling, or maybe his combination of numbers, if you just search "JD1" then a small shortlist of matching names comes up (JD1, jd1123, jd1204).

I don't see how searching within a group and searching the B.net userbase in general are really that different to require a whole new system...

Sounds like a good idea, just we need more themes, avatars, ect.

(Looking things in a bad way will have to wait until 2010 before these things happen.)

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I like the idea but it probably wont happen.

I'd rather see the Karma system :)

Also why dont you just make a folder in your favorites/bookmarks that says "B.net Friend List" and bookmark all your friends Profiles into there and rename all the links to there name... Just an idea..

Sorry for double post..
