Also why dont you just make a folder in your favorites/bookmarks that says "B.net Friend List" and bookmark all your friends Profiles into there and rename all the links to there name... Just an idea..

There's an idea...

I still can't agree, if only because the cited example was far too specific to warrant a new system. I view this much like I view the "My Threads" idea. It's something that while the current search method is not efficient, there is a rather simple way to solve it yourself.

That is a very general example I gave I just used specific people. Anyone with a large group or even friends that aren't in a group or anyone that you want to talk to can take advantage of such a system. What you basically saying is that you don't want any advancement in the system because you'd rather do it another way. Well advancing the system is a far better way of getting things done that using different outside applications to do the same thing at in twice the time. Its a advancement in the programming of the forum and your saying you dont' support it because its easier to use a bookmark. In my opinion that is a very complacent attitude.

But the use of outside applications is commonplace. For instance, the use of an instant messenger program, even though we already have a PM system.

I am saying that from what I have observed, such a list would only help members on rare occasions, or would only help a few members altogether. Much like a search feature, it has the capability to help, but not on such a scale that the amount of help it would give is not equal to or greater than the time put into it. If the problems you encountered become common, then such a list would help, and perhaps become required for the community. Until then, it only takes about 20-30 seconds to put a link to one's profile onto a notepad or Word program.

an IM is completely different then a PM.

A PM is like an email, the person picks it up whenever there on. an IM is to talk to a person in real time.

Yes outside applications are commonplace but should not be required to use the website. If a websites useage is effected because it does not provide the services required to effectivly use the website then that greatly hinders the productivity of the people trying to use the site to its fullest.

Also the time put into it if you are refering to its creation would not be a determinent to the site programs because such buddylist programs all ready exist for more complex forum scripts such as vbulletin and invision power board and the integration of such a script into this site would not hard. Refering to the useage of the feature I still think its much more convenient to click on a link in the top blue bar and be directed to a list of friends with links than to have to open wordpad or notepad to get the list.

Your idea is a good one, but alas it would be near impossible to implement since this is mostly Idealbb's work(the forum and some other things such as members). It would take a lot longer than you would think.I would expect to see this type of thing in the next huge update if it will ever come.

RCG: In ur base, steelin' ur flagz. | Watch the demo, then join the carnage!

This took me around 5 minutes to set up, and about 10 seconds per. name you want to add.

I appreciate you won't have the same software etc., but this is just to show that there are other equally acceptable ways around problems such as this. =)

the friend list alredy exist...

1. find the requested people profil... let take Guardian Hunter for instance... http://www.bungie.net/Account/Profile.aspx?memberID=619355

2. bookmark the link

3. create a folder with all the bookmarked profils and name it "b.net friend list"

4. enjoy

Discipline is my Sword,
Faith is my Shield,
Do not leap blindly into uncertainty,
And you may live to reap the rewards.

"The Important Thing Is To Never Stop Questioning,"

While most of these ideas posted are simple solutions around said problem, I do have to admit having a B.net friends List would be much more convenient. Now, I haven't been involved in the Column in a while, but back when I used to run a fairly large chapter I found it a hassle trying to scroll through page after page of emmbers, looking for a few, I solved this by bookmarking most. But even this didnt always work, as I sometimes had to scroll through to find members I hadn't bookmarked. The same would be a fault with your Friends list, those not added, you would still be forced to search for. But, as I am now getting back into the 7th Column and all, all and all I think it is a good idea and would love to see it implemented. Lets see if we can make it happen.

There is a search feature already on the site, and I don't mean the one for gamertags. While it would be nice to have a list of people that you can easily contact perhaps this can help you in the meantime.

What about an A-Z list or tabs A-Z so you could scroll through the names?

The search feature on the site is good but its really inconvinent for looking for someone to have a PM conversation with and is impossible to use for PMing certain members in a entire group.

How does Bookmarking not circumvent this problem?
