Acceleration and Field of View.
No even if you run for awhile without stopping for it to not accelerate anymore it still feels slower than Halo 3 by like 5-10% slower.
I don't think it's FOV either, because when I go Beaver Creek on Halo: Reach.
Then go to Halo 2 on Headlong.
Halo 2 feels way faster. And I'm playing on a huge map, with huge sightlines on Halo 2 and it stills faster than Reach playing Beaver Creek.
Then when I go to Beaver Creek in Halo 2 then go to Reach and play the same map, Halo 2 still feels faster, and I'm not talking about the acceleration.
If it feels faster, then it probably is still FOV.
They pushed it back farther in Reach, allowing you to see more while in 2/3 it was much closer so everything seemed to go by quicker as you moved.
I don't think, that smaller FoV would result in the game looking quicker. It's the opposite. You can see from the videos in the Youtube, that higher FoV makes the game look quicker while gameplay of the same game with smaller FoV looks a lot slower.
This I feel kinda like I'm running slower than Reach because of the FoV in Halo 2, but it also feels like I'm running faster, because my character runs a bit faster than the Reach spartan, and I think the 100 unit speed test is highly innaccurate.
Why would 343i use Halo 3 inspired movement and why would Bungie say they made the movement speed slower in Reach because of sprint, and why would 343i think you shouldn't move slow just because you have sprint so they used Halo 3 movement for Halo 4, IF IT'S ALMOST THE SAME MOVEMENT SPEED?
Halo: Reach's screen was probally alot closer to the goal then Halo 1/2/3 but Halo: Reach has farther FoV, so it looks alot farther than Halo 1/2/3, so Halo: Reach goal could of been 95+ units away from the goal at the beggining of the video, while Halo 1/2/3 was probally 100+ units away from the goal at the beggining of the video.
I don't know.
