If the core part of the trailer takes place roughly at a 1/3 of the game then is the Covenants most high Prophet Truth been assasinated by the Master Chief? If so who would be left to lead the Covenant? The Elites have been relieved from their active role in the Covenants decision making, the council has been butchered by the Brutes "where the councillors gathered to watch the unification of the index with the core" and the Covenant military is deep in civil war. We are going to encounter a new race in Halo 3 surely. Unless there is a Covenant city other than High Charity. The Covenant have been devestated and the the Ark reveals what the first two games have been building up to. The Covenant may have been a might race but I think we will ally with some or all of the remaining Covenant. If this is true there is no way we would have the numbers of Covenant allies we have fought against in previous games. The Covenant are on their knees. I want to hear your opinions, please post.

It does seem that the Covenant are in trouble. But I don't think it's quite as bad as we've seen. It is likely that there are other prophets somewhere. And there are probably still Elites that are loyal to the Covenant. But I do think that there will be a decent number of Elites who would be willing to fight with the Humans. The Arbitor and those who follow him for sure.

Like AcidRainO said, there will probably be Covenant fighting aside the Master Chief. However, as to whether Truth has been killed, or even if it would matter if he died and there was no longer a head to the Covenant, has yet to be answered. My personal opinion is that the Covenant will be back under control of the Elites because who else is there? If there are times in Halo 3 we play as the Arbiter, is will more than likely be him rallying the Covenant to fight the flood.

we know for a fact that at the end of halo 2 the covenant races were split in two. the elites/hunters/grunts and the brutes/jackals/ and the insect creatures. now even if truth dies the brutes will still try to complete the "sacred journey" which was reserved for the elites until the restructuring of the covenant. although i highly doubt we humans will fight alongside the elites because they refer to us as vermin and despise everything about us, however if the arbiter is their leader that could change.

as for the probable assasination of the prophet of truth, i remember the novels stating a few times that there were what you call minor prophets. now if these prophets are still respected by the brutes they could take the field promotion if/when truth is killed.

If you listen to the broadcasts on High Charity you can hear a Brute talking that isn't Tartarus. In H3 that will probably be the the new Chieftain and the leader of the High Chaity Armada.

I'm glad you mentioned that "voice" on High Charity. I could not make it out I coudl only hear the words of The Prophet of Truth. At first I thought it was Tartar Sauce but then I began to think what if it is Gravemind? The voice speaks of dark things and the rhythm appears to be iambic heptameter. What if Gravemind is leading the flood as Truth is doing for the Covenant?

The gravemind, when he is on high charity is trying to put fear into the remaining forces.

He is basically "putting more dirt in the wound" so to speak. Gravemind knows he has won High Charity, so he is toying with the last of the defenders.

Yes, Truths voice is present in that level, but if you listen, everything Truth says, Gravemind contradicts.

I believe that there are 7 or 8 hierachs of the Covenant. I can't remember where I read them, but there are several other hierachs with different names. Plus, High Charity can't be the only Covenant city. Not to mention the homeworlds of each race; who do you think governs them while the Prophets are off on their Great Journey?

There are others who hold power that would fill the spot. Plus, killing Truth, Mercy, and Regret creates a power vacuum, and every power vacuum is eventually filled.
