Ok i got fraps full edition, wich basically means no limit to recording time, and whenever i start to record, my framerate goes down to 3 or 4 and i lagg like hell. This makes it really hard for me to make a good montage showing off cool stuff that i know i can do and have done before, but cant cuz im lagging so much. Does anybody have a answer to this other than just getttig a entirely different recording system?

I'm gonna guess a slow computer. try lowering your resolution and turn record sound to off.

Il try it, but my compuer isnt slow. I usually get 67 ping in games, wich is better than most people in the maw. And i have plenty of RAM, so i have no idea what it could be.

I have a 1.8 Ghz computer and my framerate drops to 10 on 800X600 resolution with sound recording on, so I turned it off and gained like 6 fps, not much, but it's an improvemnet.

It's slow because you are running a game that uses more power than most things on a computer, then your recording it as it's happening and saving at the same time.

With 2.4 GHz computer, my framerates while playing Halo multiplayer is always about 30-40 FPS, and my ping is always somewhere between 67-130, which I'm assuming is a pretty good gaming experience. But I'm worried about fraps, because 1) my graphics card sucks, so until I get my FX5500, I don't want to record, and 2) i only have 248 RAM, so I fear that fraps is going to take advantage of that and lower my FPS to like 5-10...

I've got a 3.20 GHz, so framerate is obviously not an issue at max settings on a resolution of 800 x 600.

Yeah, I also run on 800x600 screen resolution. I get good enough FPS, and very little ping, as I've mentioned before. But I really need to update my graphics card and RAM.

how do u get even decent fps with 248mb of ram?

Are you saying I'm lying? For your information, I mostly play in dedicated servers when I join a server. Yes, I know 248 MB RAM is really weak, but you don't have to rub it in my face. I'm trying to upgrade it to 512 or even 1 Gig, but hell, I still get good enough FPS with only 248.

When I run FRAPS my framerate drops exactly in half. Since my FPS is normally 65-75 this usually isn't a problem. But when we were playing Plasma party on Chillout(never again) my initial FPS were 25-30 and it was 10-15 when I was recording. Don't record sound lower your resolution and i forget what the options in FRaps are but try choosing 30FPS not 60.
