Subject: Creating threads to create threads.

Man of God. Fan of Bungie. Eater of many Jr. Bacon cheeseburgers.

I'm not sure if I've just never noticed it but I feel as though creating threads just to create threads is becoming all too common.
Are people doing it to look ''good'' and get attention or because they honestly can't think of good discussions so they simply post excruciatingly boring subjects that sink to the bottom before you can say -blam!-

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I invented that and "Please discuss and Thank you"

The latter didn't stick

These days, nothing is original, so we have to settle with a bunch of crappy, worthless threads because they're the only new content we peasants will ever experience.

The answer is fairly obvious if you would bother to read the threads.

For now. There's always something cool and new down the road. What you say is true, though.

I feel like making threads for the sake of calling people out for making threads for the sake of making threads while at the same time not offering any viable solutions (or any real solutions at all), which in essence turns your entire thread into you just whining about the creation of threads you dislike or feel shouldn't exist in the subjectively incomplete or unprepared status they currently exist in in your eyes, is counterproductive to actually turning the forums into a more fun place to be in for people who either share your opinion, are indifferent about the situation, or aren't currently conscious of the fact that the forums are in the state of disarray that they apparently are in.

Next time be constructive and suggest ways to actually fix the solution rather than just letting us all know that it exists and that you're mad as hell, and not gonna take it anymore.

Calling people out is a solution. Tell them to stop or that they're annoying or that they're, bluntly, a little slow in the head, and hopefully they'll knock it off. I have maybe four or five people in my head I can name that just post annoying thread after annoying thread. Sometimes I'll call them out. I won't call anybody names necessarily, but folks need to get it in their head that a quality discussion is better than a discussion just for the sake of a lame discussion.

Ah this is the issue. Threads that do not accomplish anything or raise an issue could certainly be considered problematic by a certain point of view. But we must also consider that many of threads listed have a high number of responses. While these discussions may not be the most demanding on discussion, it would still seem certain users find them response-worthy or entertaining.

The issue really comes down to what qualifies a discussion. You cannot really consider discussion a problem unless you're going to tie it to a rule or dispute. Take away these threads and the peanut gallery will have nothing to discuss.

While I see your point, the only reason they have so many replies is because it's easy to make simple responses to them. You don't have to think up a response to "take the avatar quiz" or "what's the coolest avatar". Or, at the very least, if you do, the effort to do so is almost infinitesimally minimal.

Even people who want better discussions or are critical of the ones I mentioned will respond to these mindless threads if for no other reason, the lack of actual discussion being present and their want of discussing something (anything) at all. The want for any sort of discussion usually outweighs the hate for mindless and stupid conversation.

Therein lies the problem. If people wish to reply for the sake of replying, that is just as bad, if not worse, then threads that accomplish little. It is not the threads that are the problem, but the behavior of the users that promote them. If the userbase truly wanted these threads gone, they would simply not respond to them in the first place.

There is no need to remove problem threads for a flawed userbase.

Feed a pack of hungry lions roadkill, and they will eat it. It's not the lions' faults that they're eating roadkill, it's what they're being fed. It's what they have to eat when they're in the dark room they live in when they're not busy ripping apart and eating each other.

But, given a choice between nice, juicy antelope and roadkill, it will go for the nice, juicy antelope, and recognize that it likes that antelope a lot more than it does roadkill.

But it is not the lions' faults that they eat roadkill when there is nothing else offered.

Lions need to eat. Users don't need to post.

I think that the quality of discussion has gone down considerably since I first joined. I think it will improve a month or two weeks after Bungie's next game comes out.

Bringing it up is the first step to coming up with a solution. I don't think the forums are in disarray, either. I was just pointing out something that annoyed me(not makes me "mad as hell") and was curious to see what people thought of it or if they noticed at all.
