Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.
The best "benefit" that I had was a bit of an intangible.
With my original WLID, over the years I had (on XBL, WLM, MSN) made friends, contacts, and had the ability to speak with/chat with many people in this industry who I respected, admired and liked. I could quickly PM, IM or otherwise reach out to them, connect and interact.
Many times it was me having a question, but sometimes it was them asking me something, or otherwise reaching out to me.
When my original WLID was compromised, I lost those contacts and the trust to ever try to rebuild them.
I know that it's pretty intangible, but it was nice knowing that I could reach out and chat (even nonsense) with Wu, KP, Frank, Shishka, Luke, Mig, and so on. Losing that contact and not trusting WLID security enough to try to rebuild the contact and trust? Well, you find out how valuable something is when you lose it.
