It just occurred to me just now, how much Gravemind knows about the Halo Installations and their history. He has "listened through rock and steel and time", so he must be ancient. So, I've come to the conclusion that he is a flood-infected forerunner. He has immense knowlege of the Halo Systems, He knows the truth about Halo, and how it is designed to contain the flood. He also has knowlege of how to use the teleportation grids in the Halo system, much like the monitors such as 343GS. Although usually if the flood infect an organism they usually destroy it's mind and body functions. But, if he's a forerunner, he probably understands the flood, and perhaps he found a way to keep the flood from affecting his mind?

You know, that's an excellent idea. An insane Forerunner controlling the Flood for his purposes. I like it, but it does have some holes. When the Flood absorb a creature, they gain it's knowledge, which is why the combat forms have a rudimentary knowledge of how to operate terran and covenant weapons and vehicles. But for a Flood,he is the first intelligent one we've seen. If it is a Forerunner,we haven't really seen the Forerunner's body though, since the Gravemind is made up of many different assimilated organisms.

He could be a "Foodified" Forerunner, or something else, who survived the firing of the Halos because of his mutation.

Known as Spartanx5 or Levartho ( or by my real name of course). I aim to inspire the community with my art.

I am pretty sure he is a multitude of beings, which he has absorbed. For example the prophet. My personal guess is that it is the "mother" flood, or the main flood where all other froms of flood came from.

Also, take into account the size of gravemind, and the size of the forrunner architecture, pretty sure he could not fit through the doors.

"Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."- John F. Kennedy

They folded out of the system immediately
after I received the message, without so
much as a "Thanks for saving us from
becoming plasma on Tau Ceti, Durandal".

Gravemind is a collection of bodies.

I think he's implying that the Forerunner could be at the center of the Gravemind.

I believe that Gravemind is first form of Flood, he is very old.

"Traped in time" is the words, I think.

hmmm... I just thought of something. If the Forerunner designed the Halos to eliminate the flood if they get out of hand, then why did he send the MC and Arbiter to stop it from activating? If he is a forerunner, I would think that he would want Halo to be activated...

HMMM... I bet that yes its kinda like the flood infection form that attached and infested itself in pvt. Jenkins (you know how it didnt completely control him...) and similiarily instead of the flood taking all and complete control, it manifested and grew and withdrew info. from a foreunner being! but instead of being in a complete state of hunger or it just wasnt powerful enough, its host and invader evolved to work in unison kind of simbiotic relationship. Now its this days grave mind

I honestley think its a Forerunner that was experimented on by other forerunners! They probably needed a person to test the flood on and whallah since he was the first flood he could probably control others! After he aquired the Flood disease he probably went crazy thus the forerunners had to lock him away in the bottom of the Halo!
