I think that the health meter taken out in halo 2 was drag. In halo, I could know what my health status is, and how much damge I would have to take to die. but in halo 2 with the different shielding system, when it went down while taking damage, I would ponder when I was going to die. Just like in multiplayer when you are running away from your opponent with no shield and you dont know which one of the bullets is going to kill you. You may see the blood but that dosent help much. I would like the health bar in halo 3 to return, so you can have better knowledge of your health status.
Personally,it doesnt matter to me,in both cases,ur mostly gonna die,cos,its a first person shooter,its about killing,so,when i'm running anywhere and get shot,i die.So i respawn,nothing much to it
I prefer the no-health-meter approach. For some reason, it feels much more natural to me now. And besides, think about it this way: no one wil be hogging or hoarding medpacks during Multiplayer (FEAR actually just patched this problem, You can have up to 10 medpacks, but people would hoard them. So they got rid of em and replaced them with intant health boosters. Walk over one and you are healed.)
All i know is, actually....all i THINK is they should bring back EVERY SINGLE FEATURE from Halo 1 that they left out in Halo 2, and make it a toggle in the options. ie: Sick of people jumpin from the top of the sword bay in Zanzibar without a scratch? Turn on falling damage! Want the battle to be more realistic? Turn on health! Want the match to not imitate LA streets? Turn off boarding!!Really...no reason not to...
I hated the health packs/meter If two people both have a full meter and get into a fight, one ends up with one health pack/low meter and the other dies, the one that died will easily win the next fight because the surviver only has a slit of health left, while the guy who respawned has full.[Edited on 6/11/2006]
i lik health meter and pack. makes games easy
