Some people may no that i am a partisan opponent of the thought that every country on Earth would unify itself under ONE central government. Its not plausible. However there is a much more plausible ansewer. When we play Halo we are surrounded by the UNSC. The UNSC is a Military Branch that is involved with Space Weapons. In Halo we see Aussies, Mexicans, Americans, and a few other nationalities. Now Im going to switch gears but I'll come back to this thought. Back on Earth is a thing called the UECC (United Earth and Colonial Coalition). Just like the UN the UECC consists of a plehtora of different nations, but not every single nation. Whats different about the UECC is that unlike the UN the UECC has a Leader. This leader is a country and this country must be voted into the leadership role.

Now this isnt a perfect democracy. The system of Election that the UECC uses is an all to farmiliar system. An Electoral College. This means that some countries votes count more than others. In which way? The value of a country's voting power is the amount of points they posses. Points are achived by a some what complex system. The points are achived by things like a countries GDP, population, civilan life expectancy, Inport Export ratio, etc. The higher and better these things/numbers are the more points a country gets, if you follow me. Then the vote. Any country may vote for themselves or another nation. Generally the large countries like The US, China, and others vote for themsleves. The real vote comes down to who the smaller countries like Norway vote for. Because I'm writing this Im gonna use the US as an example. Say the US was the leader the of UECC. The US would represented by the US president.

Under the Code and Conduct of being a membering country of UECC your country is closely monitored. A nation is forced to release all governmental secrets and advancements such as military advancements. You mite say "Ha, that wouldn't go so smoothely." Actually it would. As long as you knew what another country was doing then it wouldnt be so bad for them to know what your doing. As long as nobody has secrets everyone is willing to give up information on new advancements.

If a country brakes an extreme facet of the Code and Conduct they will be removed from the UECC and have Militray action taken upon them. One of the largest issues is UECC nations feeding info to allied, but non-UECC nations. That is the largest problem and more than 15 countries have been removed from the UECC for such a trangression.

The UECC has one central lauguage. What that exact launguage is is irrelevant because when a human is born a computer chip is put into their braine which as they mature would be fed more information. The UECC's central launguage is one of those things.

The Militray. Although Language is not an issue the UECC still makes every attempt to keep US soldiers with other US soldiers, Chinese soldiers with other Chinese soldiers, etc. The main reason for this is due to Patriotism reasons. The only exception for this is really elite groups of soldiers. Why? because the best of the best get the best, no matter where their from. A good example of this is the Spartans, the ODSTs, and the elite Marines we saw in Halo:CE. They were the best of the best, it was irrelevant where they were from.

As for Colonies. I believe that Colonies are extra country settlements.

And getting back to the UECC leader. They mainly create new laws and make economic decision. In the process of making new laws though the new law has to be approved. The same system of points is used for such votes.

I think you are more intelligent than most people here. That's the problem. Use smaller words, make your post shorter. I skimmed it, and it seems interesting. Except for the fact that all I can think about is Halo 3, and here you come with political theories for Halo. Tisk tisk.

your so shallow minded. This has to do with the Universe which Halo 3 is in and it goes a little beyond the UNSC.

Agreed. Although quite an amazing topic, it should be discussed elsewhere. This has no relevance to Halo 3. Good work, though. Shame to waste it.

The life and world you see is just a cheery toped and sugar coated version. You know nothing of Hell. Unknown to you and everyone around you is that there is a war going on that you can't see. Now that you know, you are part of it. And if you are going to survive, your going to need to learn to pull the trigger.

thanks for the school lesson

No, Earth in the Halo Universe is under the singular government of the United Nations. This may go against your personal politics, but it's established Halo canon.

From the Halo timeline:

2160-2200: This period in human history was marked by a series of brutal conflicts between various governments and factions in our Solar System. Conflicts of particular historical importance included the Jovian Moons Campaign, The Rain Forest Wars, and a series of clashes on Mars.

As overpopulation and political unrest on Earth increased, a number of new political movements formed. The most noteworthy dissident movements of the period were the "Koslovics" and the "Frieden" movement. The Koslovics - supporters of neo-Communist hardliner Vladimir Koslov - sought a return to the glory days of Communism and the elimination of corporate and capitalist influence, particularly in orbital facilities and offworld colonies.

The Frieden movement was a resurgence of fascism, springing from anti-Koslovic sentiment that had taken root in the Jovian colonies [largely backed by Unified German Republic corporations, frequent targets of Koslovic "workers' crusades"]. "Frieden" literally means "peace"-in this case, they believed that peace could be achieved only once the "oppressors on Terra Firma" were eliminated.

2160 March-June: The Jovian Moons Campaign began. Jovian secessionist attacks on United Nations Colonial Advisers on the moon Io led to three months of fighting between the Earth military and Jovian "Frieden" forces. Though this was not the first armed conflict in our Solar System, it was easily one of the bloodiest, and is generally considered to be the spark of increased friction and militarisation that followed.

The Jovian Moons Campaign escalated tensions, as Earth's national governments-many of which sponsored colonies within the system-began fighting proxy wars off-planet. As these proxy wars continued, tensions on Earth mounted, leading to a number of armed conflicts on Earth itself.

2162: Armed conflict ripped through South America, as Koslovic, Frieden, and UN forces all clashed over ideological differences, sparking additional conflicts off-planet.

2163 December: In a conflict that stemmed from the Rain Forest Wars, the three primary Earth factions clashed again, this time on Mars. A series of lightning strikes against Koslovic forces near the Argyre Planitia marked the first extra-terrestrial deployment of Marines. The campaign was an unqualified success. As a result, future military doctrine favoured large contingents of Marines for ground assaults and ship-boarding actions.

2164: UN-sponsored military forces begin a pattern of massive buildups, culminating in the first real interplanetary war. After the successful Marine deployment on Mars, recruitment drives and propaganda tactics strongly bolster UNSC [UN Space Command] forces. UN forces defeat Koslovic [supporters of rabid Communist hard-liner Vladimir Koslov] and Frieden [a resurgence of fascism] forces on Earth, then begin a systematic and dedicated drive to crush their remnants on the various planets they hold throughout the system. At the conclusion, Frieden and Koslovic forces are defeated, in the face of a massive, unified and very powerful UN military.

2170: A unified Earth government was formed in the wake of the conflicts of the 2160s. Now, the victors were forced to deal with a less obvious but equally serious threat: overpopulation and a massive military that had no enemy to fight.

In the postwar period there were massive population surges and the overpopulation, coupled with the destruction and famine bred by the Rain Forest Wars, threatened to destabilise the economy.

intelligent! He spelt so many words wrong. Now I hope this was a joke The UECC dosen't exist. Theres just ONE Force defending the Earth and it's colonys. The UNSC gets to protect Earths Exterior and her colonys. The UNEC is United Nation Earth Corp, they defend the Earth AND OLNY THE EARTH. Now do you understand.

Oh yea, the reason the UN forces have mixed soldiers is to show that all soldiers are equal. No offecnce, but the U.S. will no douptably turn into a some war Contenent where the rival nations fight over the land. U.S. not included.

What, you mean "We are NOT Bungie Studios! Bungie Studios are bungie.net"? You've never been to HBO before then have you?

Right, well were you to look properly you'd have noticed this section at the VERY TOP:

Sources:
Halo: The Fall Of Reach [in blue]
Halo: The Flood [in orange]
Halo: First Strike [in light green]
Official Backstory (Xbox.com) [in mauve]

What colour was the text I linked? Was it mauve? Does that mean it's the official backstory from Xbox.com? There's nothing worse than thinking you've won when you haven't, is there?
