Title says it all. My thoughts are it exactly. Don't you think that's kind of bland or is it whatever? Moreover, I think 343 can pull it off better than CoD though.

They're alike only in name. Otherwise, I do not recall CoD's SpecOps having a full length TV show-styled cinematic plot complete with an all new cast of characters, locations, CGI cutscenes, and weekly updated missions.

True, but in a same concept kind of way. It's similar.

In the sense that they're bonus missions outside of the main campaign, then yeah. But we're not sure how each mission works, but we do know that they have in-game dialogue between characters and that each one has a length of about a decently sized campaign mission (12-15 minutes).

Concept is similar, but that does not make it a complete rip off. In fact it makes it the exact opposite. Innovation is defined as taking an existing idea and improving it, or making it unique. Spartan Ops is so innovative that, if it is done well, it is revolutionary.

Don't do anything you wouldn't want to have to explain to paramedics. Trust me, I'm a pilot.

I can sort of see where you're coming from, but in reality, Spartan Ops, at least from what I've seen so far, is going to be a lot better than Spec Ops. I am a little disappointed, however, that it will be replacing Firefight, as I personally enjoy Firefight very much.

This, though i am dissapointed that it's going to be replacing firefight.

This exactly, though the name is horribly bland and doesn't exactly give the best first impression.

Both Halo and COD are FPS games where you shoot guns at enemies - the concept is the same, are they the same game now?

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

I'm sure no one would complain if it was called anything else than Ops...

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Dude, if you honestly think this, than you need to GTFO and get some common sense.

What things have COD taken in that Halo CE started introducing into FPS? We could go on for hours with this type of idiotic argument. Every game has something taken from another. What you should be complaining about is if it´s an improved version of it (which it clearly is) or if it´s a ripoff.

This guy right here.
I'm okay with it replacing fire-fight, CoD's special ops was a list of lazily put together missions that were on the whole just ripped straight from campaign.
Spartan Ops, is, in it's own right, a miniature campaign.
Bonus missions on the side of the main storyline? Yes, they both are.
Alike in any other way? Nope.
