Subject: When you learned that Reach would have dogfights

Hold it right there.

Hello. Name's Brian. Look, if you're looking for a flame war with me, just open up the Flood and write up some not-nice things about religion and I'll bring my nukes to the party.

If you want some other way to contact me, you can forget it.

If you're interested in some of my work, you can check my homepage out.

I'm sure everyone's aware of the memorable moment in their Campaign experience, Long Night of Solace, when Noble Six would hop on a Saber (I believe it was called) and joined the space-battle between the UNSC and the Covenant. This question is directed to those who had heard or known of the dogfights before playing the actual game: what were you expecting?

Because when I imagined space-battles in Reach, done through a spaceship, the only thing that was pulsing in my head was Starfox.

Blasting through fleets and fleets of enemies, rescuing some foolhardy pilot that kept getting enemies on his tail, and dodging an obscene amount of explosions and lasers as you barrel roll'd.

GREENMAN!!

The only thing I thought of was Star Wars Battlefront 2 lol.
I expected a level that didn't suck. Honestly.

Comparatively speaking, it was one of the better missions available.

Wait how is anybody hating on that level? That's ridiculous. It's one of the best levels in any Halo game, period.
:/

I didn't know what to expect, but it was fun.

I'm pretty sure space combat multiplayer would have been more competitive than actual Reach multiplayer.

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

One thing can be said about Reach's campaign: at least it was still better than Halo 2's.

That's not saying much though, that's like saying one turd was "better" than another.

I <3 Halo:Reach - amazingly fun and best campaign + amazing Soundtrack
I <3 Halo 3:ODST - best soundtrack + Firefight + Coastal Highway and Mombassa Streets, amazingly unique campaign.

Havent you learned? Everyone in the Halo;Reach forum will complain about anything, even if it isn't bad.

I loved the Halo:Reach campaign. I used to argue with people on here, but it was pointless as they would just insult me and put the term "lol" over anything I said I enjoyed.

Because it played nothing like vanilla Reach?

Pretty much lol

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

It was fun.
Except on Legendary or LASO.

Same, SWBF 2 had the best dogfighting to ever grace gaming that also featured ground combat.

And my mind immediately wandered to multiplayer possibilities. Another shortcoming to being a good game.

GREENMAN!!

Just to be honest, I didn't mind a couple of levels in the Reach campaign, I was just underwhelmed by LNoS.

I'm not complaining. I just didn't enjoy the level. Not trying to start an argument or anything. If you enjoyed it, fine.

It turned out like playing Sector Z from Starfox 64, which is cool, but it could have been better.
Still fun though, the only part of the campaign I can still play over and over. lol

  • 06.24.2012 9:40 PM PDT

the gun pointed at the head of the universe

I was expecting it to be more difficult, but piloting the Sabre was so easy, it turned out to be one of the least difficult parts of the campaign. It only really starts to get my blood pumping when you assault the corvette, there should of been more offensive gameplay like that.

Wake Up Buttercup :)

global warming isn't proven and won't be - it's more of a political play for funding for "research"

That was literally the only fun non chore part of the Campaign.

I replayed that section of the Campaign more than anything else.

No. It is definitely worse than Halo 2.

Mission start sucks, unbearably long and unskippable cinematics, and there's too much time between waves during the first half of the space battles.

They should have made a separate level (space training) so players don't have to put up with the tutorial stuff on Heroic and Legendary. The pace of the space battles gets faster during the second half.

Finally, the good stuff is at rally point bravo. And that's a long, long time away.

Basically, the bulk of the mission is boring.
