The last with pagan blood.
IMMORTAL.

I just thought of something. Instead of using the d-pad only for squad commands or movement it should be for both. First of all they should have squad commands available in the xbox communicator. This breaks the limits of few commands and stopping to press buttons. Second of all it will be alot easier to just say it than press it in a crazy battle. However, the d-pad should not be ignored either, if you are next to a wall and it is to your right you press right and you get moved to cover. Not in a back against wall way but in a side(face the corner) way that isnt big or anything. You could just move out of cover to fire but you cant zoom or anything. and it isnt camping because you will be vulnerable to grenades and explosives. When you want to get out of cover just move away or press left. You could do the same if the wall is to your left the same thing happens but diffrent button presses. If you are not next to a wall then you will peek left and right. the d-pad configuration shoul be like this:

Left: peek or move to wall in left direction.

Right: peek or move to wall in right directon.

UP and DOWN: universal

The universal functions will be included if the voice feature does not make it. Basically its a run down version of the voice command one it works like this:

Lets say you have a squad of marines with you, if you press down you will tell them to regroup and assist you. For example you are low on shields and you press down, a nearby marine will come in and cover you and soon others will too and they can get you the time and support in order for you to recharge you shields. Pressing up should tell them to move at a more aggressive pace an search for enemies not too far away from you. Keep in mind that they will also yell out or sneak back to you to let you know. This will also apply to vehicles UP get in Down get out. If you are facing a turret or vehicle press up and a marine will get on it. Simple

Posted by: kick some ass
flashlight on the gun or hand signals. to the guy who said they are pointless, of course they're not, have you never been sneaking into a base with someone and not been able to communicate through fear of giving away your position to the enemy??? silent signals would be brilliant.

when have you been in a matchmade game when even half of your teammates listen to you let alone are quit, plus what if theyre not looking at you?

Single Player:

Up - Attack Target/Move/Get Into Vehicle
Down - Regroup/Retreat
Left - Flank Left
Right - Flank Right

Multiplayer:

Up - Turn off HUD (machinima)
Down - Lower Weapon/Sprint
Left - ???
Right - ???

Putting your back to a wall and leaning could be easily accomplished with the left thumbstick.

Hold Left Thumbstick - Prone
Tap Left Thumbstick - Crouch
