The first part is funny, until private pile turns seargant Hartman into a corpse.. then it loses its halarity.

Yea, it was a real bummer when the sarge died, since he was the best part of the whole movie(except for the Vietnamese hooker scene!). The second half of the movie is definitely NOT for the casual audience(it is a war movie, after all).

Yeah, the first hour of the movie was funny. However, it was also a bit disturbing in its acuracy (from what I have heard anyway, I am not myself a member of any of the armed forces).
For the most part, Kubrick's films never really did it for me. The biting sarcasm of Dr. Stragelove is classic and 2001: A Space Odyssey is a good film, but I don't really enjoy Kubrick's later films. If I am going to watch a movie about the Vietnam War, Full Metal Jacket is not my first choice.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Funny this topic is up. I saw that movie for the first time about 2 or 3 days ago.

True. The first half was easily the funniest stuff I have ever seen in a war movie. But after the death of Sgt. Hartman (which freaked me out, since my last name is Hartman) at the hands of Private Pile, It went downhill, one piece of suckitude piling upon another. Of course, the fighting scenes were cool, but if I wanted to be slapped in the face with harsh reality, I would watch unbiased news, like what they have in Europe.

all jokes aside, I give it a 6/10.

If you want some more funny quotes, go to ebaums world and look for the original soundboard for the movie. I'm not going to put the link up since the language is pretty foul, and I'm not sure what the mods would think, but if you want to know, just pm me.

Oddly enough, I prefer the second half of the movie myself. The "duality of man" which private joker speaks of interests me. The battle every soldier must fight against himself to stay empathetic and human in the extremely violent times of war. One of the reasons I have extreme respect for any veteran of any war.

But, to come down off of my philosophical and analytical pedestal, I agree with your rating of 6/10 and would much rather watch Platoon or Apocalypse Now.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

"Me love you long time! 5 dolla."

That movie is good, but not funny.

The funniest part is when he takes his gun in the bathroom. I laughed for hours.
