Subject: The Forerunner/Didact are enemies in Halo 4?

true, the reasons for the Didact's (supposed) hostility is definitely the most curious of all of Halo 4's mysteries. Guilty Spark did say that the destruction of instillation 04 would wake and anger the Didact. Maybe it'll end up being one of those "What gives you the right to destroy all life!"--"I have to do what has to be done!" things. Still, that's confusing because the whole reason the Didact was exiled was for opposing the rings' creation.

Sort of like a durance? Like with the Didact's War Sphinxs'? Could make sense.

I don't think Didact will actually care about 04 or the Ark. All he wants back is Librarian.

They are defense AIs created to protect Requiem. I think they just attack anything that arrives on the planet uninvited.

If you read the forerunner novels, prometheans are the warrior caste of the Forerunners and the Didact is their leader.

His symbol wasn't altered, they actually look nothing like.

Tell me that either that is the new retconned Didact symbol, or that is someone else, probably Faber IMO.

I'm still thinking all they did was let the lines of the original emblem touch the outer circle, and filled in the middle. The reason it's upside down is because in the trailer, it flips over while he's narrating.

IMO it's just the new version of the emblem.

Half of what I say is true. The other half are also lies.

I don't know who but someone thought of a very good reason as to why those are enemies. Master Chief has not only destroyed 2 rings, but severely damaged the Ark as well. So he, and the rest of humanity, are on the Forerunners Naughty list.

dont the promotheans predate the forunners though?

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Sigh I have not been keeping up with Halo 4 developments at all.

Prometheans are Forerunner.

If you have seen the gamplay at E3 you would know that the enemy is the forerunners, but you are fighting a kind of like "machine" made by them, few of the known enemys in halo 4 will be he promethean knight and the watcher

Ipromethean knight
After reading some threads and doing no where near enough research I have come to the conclusion that Promethean knights are obviously not actual prometheans which has already been said. They are simply AI constructs used for defense.

The label promethean knight is like the label forerunner sentinel. It doesn't mean that sentinels are forerunner simply that they are made and used by them. Same with the knights.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in as it seems to be a point of confusion.

No, no they are not. Prometheans are the warrior class of Forerunner, for lack of a better description, but they are most certainly not AI.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

You're both right and wrong. The books have us believe that they're Forerunner warrior servants, and, in Halo 4, they're synthetic a.i foot soldiers and insects as well... You know, the enemies in the 4 e3 demo?

We're fighting Prometheans, not Forerunners.

Prometheans are mutated Warrior-Servant rate forerunners. The Didact was a Warrior-Servant, so he might be an enemy.

You guys do know that all the forerunners, including the Didact were killed in the first firing of the Halo arrays. As for my opinion, I belive that the evil is a part of Mendicant Bias (turned evil, split into parts after defeat), or Offensive Bias (defeated Mendicant, possibly went rampant like Spark).

  • 07.07.2012 6:49 PM PDT

Mendicant was presumably destroyed with the lesser Ark. As for all Forerunners being killed with the first Halo firing? I severely doubt that. It would make absolutely no sense for 343 to create a trilogy of Forerunner based novels generally surrounding the life of the Didact and those associated with the Didact to just have him play no part in Halo 4. Also, adding a story element of shield worlds, just to have them play no purpose makes no sense. All the clues are just too obvious. If the Didact is not some form of negative presence in Halo 4 than 343 would have done the biggest trolling act in history.

It was confirmed 5 years ago that the Forerunners survived, to an extent.

Forgive me for asking, but where've you been?

My friends call me D Bo.

Does anyone mind telling me what 'Requiem' is? Is this a person? I have not read any of the recent novels by Greg Bear.

Requiem is the name of the shield world Chief has made it to.

It was stated in an interview.
