You say tomato; I say potato.

so, the master chief is realy a vampire! well, then the story of halo 1 was probably just a cover up for a feeding frenzy.

I don't think it's fair to say the artist copied the Battle Rifle. The BR does, after all, look exactly like a real French assault rifle.

Not really. There's a couple similarities, namely, the bullpup design, the rail on top, and the extended barrel. Either way, that's no coincidence.

(Shut up Impy, you jerk.)

The battle rifle is similar to that gun, but the BR has it's own distinct look. The gun on the cover of the book is an exact copy of the BR.

He copied it exactly no photoshop or anything was done to the book.

The question is, did he do it on purpose?
I know quite a few artists who make book covers. Sometimes they simply use a weapon, vehicle, clothing, etc from a certain game or film as a "cupholder". Usually till they can come up with their own design.
Perhaps the artist simply used the battle rifle as a reference, but had trouble coming up with his own design. When he later on sent the design to the publisher to show them what he had come up with, the publisher could simply have accepted it as the main art.
So, a simple mistake, or the artist is thief. If MS wants to they can give him hell anyway.

I'll be on my own side.

Seeing that this isn't free advertising for Halo and Microsoft(like Red vs. Blue), MS probably will give them some trouble.
