I can understand making rational and calm thoughts, but how in the hell do you do that in the first place? How does someone go about taking copyrighted material and w/out permission use it? My only insight is that they were not thinking...and this does not relate to whether the author/aritist did it. It is just a question.
While it does seem apparent what was done with what media, it is up to the owner of that Intellectual Property to decide what they think of the situation and to what extent they are willing to pursue it.
At that point, the person who is suspected of improperly using the IP will speak to the IP owner as to their actions, their motivations, their thoughts, and that may or may not influence the events that follow.
Quite honestly, it's really Bungie's game now (some pun) and the next move is theirs. Their decision to make a move or not, to do it publicly or not, that is completely up to them.
As to the other discussions both here and elsewhere, IMO it is now approaching the level of gossip and rumor-mongering. It was great that a sharp-eyed fan spotted and noted the issue, but now we fans can only make the situation uglier and less professional by getting involved.
I'd prefer to allow the people who normally take care of these things do what they do so well. On the other hand, if for example, this were a creation of a private individual that had allegedly been misappropriated, (like someone claiming the work of Blackstar as their own) I would be far more vocal, since I doubt that he has a huge legal department to speak on his behalf.
Thanks for the explanation Recon...and I agree now that I see what you mean.
