Eh, I'm not going to go into any Freud speak in this post, so I'll ignore responding to any other replies, as that really isn't the point of this topic.
I've had stuff like that happen to me. If she really tore that much of the epidermis off, I'd think she may need a skin graft. You said that she already got stitches, so it sounds as if they atleast got the bleeding under control, Anaesthetic used, right?
Back to the point, if she tore enough off of it, the stitches will look like hell once they're done, no matter how good the surgeon was.
You said she's 14, if she's even the slightest bit self-conscious a skin graft to cover up the scar would be a help, you can get the skin from a donor, or you can do like I did and just get it off of yourself. It will help in the long run, emotionally and physically.
She might have been able to get the graft before the stitches, but I'd think she would have to wait for a complete heal and for the stitches to dissolve now, which will happen in under a month.
It's tough to go through stuff like that, and unfortunatately it makes you learn a lot about the people you know, as I'm sure you'll understand what I mean without having to say much more...
As for the response, it was good atleast from you, the woman who was talking to you aout your sister was probably in shock, people will often do that, a side affect of a desensitized reality where people wake up and see the gore pretty quick... But anyways, I won't publicly say I recommend punching a person, but it is a lot better than her raising your sisters heart rate, especially with a severed femoral? artery.
