... where there is a drop box that pops up every time after you report another user.
A few generic answers could be:

Offensive comment
-blam!- filter evasion
Irrelevant post
Improper use of mustache bomb
Espionage
Potatoes
Espionage Potatoes
Other... (please specify)

Maybe it could help ninjas ban deserving users more efficiently, or maybe it's just a waste of time. Anyways, it's just a idea I thought up of that someone probably already thunk a long time ago.

Thoughts, comments?

While a good idea at heart, I feel it would be a waste of time. It is fairly obvious what rule is broken for rule breaking posts.

  • 06.26.2012 11:11 PM PDT

I ♥ Bungie!

Very good idea. This, my friends is a good feature.

I imagine a feature like that would definitely help moderators to deal with reports in a large scale community, for example, an MMO, however, with Bungie.net there's really no need for such a feature.

  • 06.26.2012 11:17 PM PDT

Considering that when a post gets enough reports its put into the mod queue and a moderator views it, I think I feature like that would be pointless considering the mods viewing the post would be able to identify the violation on their own.

  • 06.26.2012 11:21 PM PDT

It seems like a good idea. I could imagine that it would help the mods sort through the reports easier with things that need to be handled, but it isn't entirely necessary.

[Edited on 06.27.2012 1:08 AM PDT]

  • 06.27.2012 1:07 AM PDT

That's a dumb idea, IMO. The mods don't care what rule it violates. They just browse the queue and check out stuff that looks bad. This would just waste time and be impractical for the most part.

When you report it dont they get some sort of link to the post so they can read it and decide for themselves?

Yep, that would be good as well. "So and so user has been reported mainly because "espionage potatoes" here's a link. Something like that.

  • 06.27.2012 8:56 AM PDT

All reports get looked at, the feature wouldn't be helpful.

Since a majority of the bannable infractions probably falls in the same ball-park of severity, how about this modification to your idea: I'm not sure how long or unattended, if even any of those things, the report queue gets, however, if it is longer and harder to manage that we think it is, perhaps a simple "high priority/low priority" button might help sort the worse stuff to the top of their list? (Such as -blam!-, viruses, illegal stuff, etc.) That way the bad stuff gets taken care of first, and someone whining about a ban is dealt with later.

I like your addition. :) Thank you.

I think it could help the Mods, but I'm not sure. Nice idea though.

Good idea, but most users on B.net don't want to have to fill out a small survey on what rule was broken.

Exactly. I just want to "report and move on" as quickly as I can. Besides, the Ninjas will have to analyse the situation and take action themselves, they'll know more about the rules than most of the general community.

I don't know how helpful it would be, but I wouldn't mind it.

I'm gonna finish it. Just like Jigga did to the pyramid.

Actually it could be used to rank urgency for the ninjas in the report que allowing them to get to the biggest fire quicker.

It would be something to put in only if the Ninjas actually wanted it. Otherwise it'd be a waste of time. It'd be something they could vote on, I suppose.

I personally like the idea. It would make it easier and "cleaner" for the mod team. And for those of you that don't want to "fill out a survey", it's a drop box idea. From what I'm getting out of this is you click report, you click on the box that you think the reported user broke, and you click a button at the bottom to file the report and send it to the queue, it's not a real survey.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

This might work, but it could also take up time.
I don't know.

Hmm, not really. When you read an offensive post and you go to click the "Report" button I would assume you already know why you're reporting the user and *click click,* done. In reality that would only take 5 seconds maybe less, unless you choose "Other... (please specify.)" That would take a few more seconds. I don't really find that "time consuming" but that's just me. Opinions vary.

(sorry if I couldn't have put it into better words.)

I feel like this is unnecessary, because if someone is reported many times, the ninja will determine the level of justice that should be served.

This idea had been brought up on this forum before and this is something one of the ninjas determined.
