I played through halo:ce with a buddy again for the 100th time this weekend. It startled me how much more fun I had with the combat in halo 1. Sure some of it was level design, but a large part of it was the solidness of the weapons and the choice you had to make per combat situation because you could only hold 2 weapons. This became especially important in co-op as each man could fulfill differnt roles. I really hope bungie takes out the dual wielding for halo 3. How about you guys? =)

Do you know why I voted NO!? It's because you cannot forget how to hold two wepons (one in each hand) after you have learned how to. In the original Halo I don't remember how many countless times I said to myself " How does a super soldier not know how to carry a weapon in each hand." It was so annoying so I was so happy when Halo 2 came out and there was dual-weilding.

You just have to master the duel-weilding. It hads more creativity to different statagys whilst playing multiplayer.

I've mastered it. I'm very good at halo 2 mp, and really I don't mind the addition to mp, I just dislike it in the SP campaign.

Halo not just a game but a way of life

seriously this has got to be one of the dumbest poll to date. why the hell would you even consider taking duel weilding out? find something better to -blam!- about

Dual wielding sounds great in principle, it just means you have to spend some of the time running around with half a gun, which sucks beyond belief. The plasma rifle is not rifle-y in the slightest now it's been made a DW gun, it has no range, no accuracy and no freeze effect, and the SMG while very slightly more useful is still not a patch on a good assault rifle-type weapon. By making the guns suit the DW system they now promote up-close spraying, which doesn't give you as many options in combat because you have to get close to engage the enemy.

Wow, i'm suprised at the amount of immaturity displayed here. I'm a long time halo fan/community member, and I was interested in a mature discussion about the topic. Instead you barrage me with insults and threats. YOUR attitude is easily the worst "feature" about halo 2 multiplayer.

Good day sirs.

Which is why I believe they need to add more option when not dual wielding.

Overall when firing both weapons at the same time the accuracy and range should dramatically decrease.
Bring back the freezing effects of plasma weapons when single wielding only.

With those and some other adjuments a single SMG should win at medium range to two SMG, while dual wielding should win at close range. So in this way we are not making the weapons suit dual wieding, but rather making dual wiedling suit the weapons.

The major point of dual weilding to add variety. But dual wiedling is always a given, not a tacticle choice. It would be much more interesting if when I had an SMG and ran by a Plasma Rifle I had to make some choices. Do I dual wield in this instance (gain fire power, lose accuracy), or do I switch to the PR (gaining freezing effects)? Right now you will 9 times out of 10 dual wield.

But if Bungie figures its more fun without then thats fine too.

I think it should be kept in. All the people saying it's noobish just don't know how to use it properly. And how would Bungie explain the Chief not being able to dual-wield anymore? Losing an arm? Amnesia?

Halo CE > Halo 3 > Halo 2

Fix the Halo 3 BR spread, plz.

I love Dual Wielding. So no.

  • 06.12.2006 9:02 AM PDT

I like Dual Wielding and don't see what the big problem with it is. Bungie please state there will be dual wielding so that these topics will stop.

Agreed. Dual wielding should not force us to deal with nerf weapons. Espeically when you spawn with one of them in MP. I think dual wielding is a great idea, especially mix and match, but the weakness should be related to the DW (accuracy at range, and recoil specifically) not in making the weapons almost useless on their own...

To be fair to him, there are arguments other than it's 'noobish'.

Also, they didn't feel the need to explain the chief suddenly being able to dual-wield guns he couldn't before. Transcendental knowledge through meditation perhaps? Suddenly finding he had a second hand one morning?

Reading your posts gives the impression you are foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog. He has given some reasoning, you respond with insults and by squealing it's 'retarded' with no explanation. Do everyone a favour and either grow up or stop posting.

THat doesnt make since if it decreases the accuracy. They're still the same wepon even if ur dual-wielding.

But you can't aim two guns with the same accuracy as one. Besides, it doesn't make sense that the chief can flip a tank but not hold two SMGs straight does it? But it doesn't matter. What matters first is the gameplay.

It does make sense. If you are holding a pistol in one hand and fire it. Now fire it with two hands. Your accuracy and range will increase by holding it with two hands.

Drop Dual Weilding! Thats a huge part of the game. Plus, they cant just drop it anyway. The Master Chief couldn't, then could, then couldn't? That wouldn't make sense unless he has like a stroke or something.

keep it!
dual wielding is one of the reasons halo 2 was soooooooo good!
when i decided to play halo 1 again, not long ago, it was... well... crap. turd. a waste of time. one of the main reasons 4 this is ibcause there was no dual wielding.

it also makes the game last longer, too. you know, trying out different combonations and stuff

DUAL WIELDING ALL THE WAY!
