In my mind, any weapon in the game needs to be suitable on its own, without needing an additional gun just to survive.

Well put.

Yes, extremely well put

That would be such an amazing feat to know that even though I'm going to start out with 1 smg, it'll handle its own against the other weapons in the game if i play it right. Very well said

Bungie wont remove it, so all i can ask is they improve it. It wasnt a bad idea, just poorly executed. How about we be a little less harsh on bungie and give them a second chance to get it right?

I agree that we should give them a chance, but they can still take it out, the showing of the assault rifle in the trailer might be Bungie's usual sneaky hinting towards a sort of combining of Halo 1 and 2's arsenals, meaning they might remove dual-weilding, or they'll improve, but they won't leave it the same.

I don't love what Bungie did with Halo 2, but I enjoy playing it with friends and I recognise that Bungie is very dynamic in their development of a game, nothing essential will remain the same in Halo 2 to Halo 3, just as nothing was the same from Halo 1 to Halo 2.

Don't remove dual wielding, just make you reload one gun at a time and increase the inaccuracy. That would make it balanced, right?

That, among many other tweaks, then yes it would. I just hope that Bungie doesn't have too much pride to realize that the DW system in place is flawed, and they address it like a real problem. IMO, there are some things from H2 that it seems only pride would lead them to not acknowledge there are certain problems with the game that need to be dealt with.

Wow, i'm suprised at the amount of immaturity displayed here. I'm a long time halo fan/community member, and I was interested in a mature discussion about the topic. Instead you barrage me with insults and threats. YOUR attitude is easily the worst "feature" about halo 2 multiplayer.

Good day sirs.

I think it needs to go. It's a cool feature, but the problem is that it results in you starting with half a gun; the weapons have to be severely toned down because it'd be too powerful.

I don't think "it'd be silly if he forgot" is an excuse. In H2 you have vehicles that were indestructable exploding, weapons with different sounds (apparently they changed noises on the way back), Elites speaking English, grenades changing propeties etc etc etc.

Point being, it doesn't matter if it makes no sense at all; it's a gameplay thing, and it doesn't need to be explained. Conversely, you could argue that including it in the first place was stupid because he suddenly realised that he could use 2 weapons at the same time.

why "deal with it" if changing or removing it will advance Halo-gaming into the next generation of consoles represented by the 360, the Ps3 and Wii?

Wether or not you agree guys, Dual wielding needs som serious tweaks to make it balnced.

People like you. You even just admitted it was unbalanced..it needs some changes like making the guns more innacurate, and reload times doubled.

As i said in an earlier post, the main people who want DW only want it for the easy kills(mainly due to the pp). So ridiculous.I know its just a game, but how can anyone be satisfied with so many kills they don't deserve due to an over-exaggerated weapon. Take away their dual weild, and they have nothing, hence never having any real skill to begin with.

Also, they never had to explain why MC couldn't dual weild in Halo:CE, so why would they need to explain if he can't in H3. If they can't fix the problems with DW, then take it out. Its really that simple

"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Well said Cheewawa,

The simple fact of the matter is that I don't work for bungie, and I don't make any presumptions on knowing what's best for the game. Bungie does a fine job of that and I love halo 2 for what it is. My "preferance" is halo 1 for the reasons I noted and would love to see some of those features make a return. Regardless of my concerns or those of others, Bungie will continue to do what they want to do for the game and ALL of us will support it and adapt. That said, I still have the right to PREFER one method over another. If you don't believe i have that right, then you might as well throw me in a concentration camp because your a -blam!-.

I agree fully. And whats funny is I didn't really get into Halo til after H2 came out, yet i find the original so much more balanced in mp. I enjoy both games, but the second couldn't hold a candle to Halo:CE's balance and fun.

I also find it funny that Bungie and fans themselves claim H2 a better game because of the amount of games played on Live.....Thats highly unfair considering the fact Halo:CE never got a shot at Xbox Live, so you can't even really compare using that data. The only reason i play H2 on live is cuz its the only option I really have(and don't say there's still XBC, cuz it doesn't even compare to the easiness of LIVE) Put Halo:CE on live and then you can talk numbers

Yeah I wish some things from Halo would make a return (same with things from Halo 2) and some things be removed alltogether, or tweaked..or new things added that havent been in the game before...

I'm pretty active in Popular Fusion (link in sig) and you can read about some balancing ideas I've got..it's a great group

Check out H2CE if you'd like a mix of Halo 2's features and Halo's as well..plus its more balanced and theres less auto aim and hardly any Host advantage..

You cant play it on LIVE though, its for XBC

Thanks- the weapons I'm most concerned about are the Needler, PP, PR, and Magnum- those weapons seem almost entirely useless without something else (the PR comes the closest to being a gun useable on its own, but you have to be in Melee range or forget it). I should be able to pick up a single needler and not feel at a disadvantage to someone with dual smg's, because I know that the gun's inherent advantages plus my skill should equal a point for me.

True, the weapons in Halo 1 did look powerful, and not cheap and fragile-looking. But, after all, there are some pretty good combos to have in Halo 2, like plasma pistol and SMG. Overload the PP, take out the enrgy shields, then spray thm with a clip of bullets to kill them. I don't really care.
