Duallies aren't the most important thing since H2 1.1 came out. Some maps benefit duals others don't. They help while raiding a tight area, but you'll get hammered by anyone with a BR in the open. One must make tactical decisions all the time, to dual or not to dual. Everybody plays a little different anyway. Don't get me wrong, gimme a BR and Shotgun and I'm happy. Sometimes I'll dual it up and have my BR or shotty hidden for a nice suprise.

How about this: I wanna be able to punch with both guns without dropping one!

it'd have to be weaker, a LOT weaker to compensate for the advantage duals get up close, more like a smack to the face to jog up someone's vision than enything else

Do you know why I voted NO!? It's because you cannot forget how to hold two wepons (one in each hand) after you have learned how to. In the original Halo I don't remember how many countless times I said to myself " How does a super soldier not know how to carry a weapon in each hand." It was so annoying so I was so happy when Halo 2 came out and there was dual-weilding.

My problem with it was how they had to weaken a lot of weapons to bring duel wielding to Halo 2. I LIKED the power of the old pistol. I liked the power of the old assault rifle. I enjoyed the freezing effect of the plasma weapons. Duel wielding is a neat idea...not a new one, but a neat idea. I just hate having to lose such good aspects of a game just to get a novelty.

It COULD be amazing....and with the flaws, theres hardly a way to "use it right".

I don't care, it is almost da same. I just don't like using dat plazzzma pizztol with riflezz/smgz. Whatever they can do to make it harder to noob(I hate dat word) it. If they take it away, I'll suggest Dualz

OH MY GOD! There is no hope to Halo3 if Bungie listens to the people on this site. Listen to yourselves! Saying crap like, "Zomg Duall wilding is wAt Mad3 H2 Teh beast!" Not really, Halo2 wasn't that great. There were better games out at the time. If someone were going to give me two games for free, and I had to choose between Halo1 and 2 I would have choose Halo1. It is better IMO. You get a gun that you can defend yourself in all situations and it took skill to use and it balanced multiplayer well (pistol). Then you get a gun thats good for close-medium range that packs a good bit of power (AR). Halo1 had an amazing story/campain that blew Halo2 away. Point is, Halo1 was epic, Halo2 was boring and the same thing over again (another Halo). Bungie handled dual weilding wrong. They shouldn't have nerfed the weapons so they weren't unbalanced when dual weilded! They should have made them inaccurate and they loose their range as they are dual weilded. If they can't do that then the dual weilding system and most of the dual weildable weapons in Halo3 will be weak and a piece of crap to be used alone.

The thing is with dual wielding is it has given rise to weak individual weapons (you have half a gun) and less ranged combat (you have to get up close and spray the enemy as the range has been nerfed).

Sounds about right, they should like an above poster said reduce accuracy to the point where DW is useless at any distance greater than point blank range. Unless your using the PP/Magnum combo.

I would choose halo:ce over halo2 myself, but H2 wasn't that boring(IMO). And you have a point about the weapons system in halo:ce. I still love the sound of a buckshot *ping* off of a spartans head from the shotgun in halo:ce, especially compared to the "sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't" shotty in H2.

Why is it the whole world is celebrating the release of Halo3 except Bungie's Halo 3 forums?

When i first heard of dual wielding i thought holy crap that sounds amazing. But i once i started using it i realized that bungie had crapped down the dual wieldable guns so they werent freakin amazing. But now when you have one wieldable weapon they suck. I prefer equality in my guns. Come on the magnum cant even take out someones shields with a full round. Its cool as hell but gameplay wise it sucks.

Agreed. I remember looking at the manual before i played thinkin "Dual weild! I'm gonna pwn the covenant"......yeah, then i realized the significant power drop.

I'll be on my own side.

Even if everyone in this thread voted YES on taking out dual wielding, it still wouldn't be removed.

The very idea of forgetting or not knowing how to use two one handed weapons simultaneously is stupid. To think that the Master Chief will suddenly forget how to pick up another weapon is retarded.

The power drop is somewhat necessary. Imagine dual wielding two Halo 1 pistols. WAY too powerful. Finding a balance between a weapon being useful on it's own, yet not being too powerful when used with another weapon is harder than you think.

The SMG could use a boost in power though, and the Magnums are way too weak.

(IMO) I think this is the general consensus, just fix the DW system, balance it out and give the weapons that need a power boost that boost. I think removing DW is an extreme, as in if they can't find a way to balance the sytem. But if they can't, then i say let DW be a thing of the past.

p.s. Dual weilding the Halo:ce pistol would be ridiculous, i hope nobody is really suggesting that. I do want the pistol back, same strength, but obviously not dual weildable.

Right, and two-handed weapons becoming one-handed weapons magically is the epitome of common sense then.....

Okay "Lil hustla"; you think that name means your cool? What exactly is a "hustla" anyway? Do you even know what the word hustle means?

All Bungie needs to do is make the Plasma Pistol identical in all aspects to the one in Halo, and increase the amount of recoil and decrease your accuracy while your dual wielding..that would make it balanced, and we can keep dual wielding..

Noob combo goes bye bye as well, with the changes to the Plasma Pistol..

Which is why I believe they need to add more option when not dual wielding.

Overall when firing both weapons at the same time the accuracy and range should dramatically decrease.
Bring back the freezing effects of plasma weapons when single wielding only.

With those and some other adjuments a single SMG should win at medium range to two SMG, while dual wielding should win at close range. So in this way we are not making the weapons suit dual wieding, but rather making dual wiedling suit the weapons.

The major point of dual weilding to add variety. But dual wiedling is always a given, not a tacticle choice. It would be much more interesting if when I had an SMG and ran by a Plasma Rifle I had to make some choices. Do I dual wield in this instance (gain fire power, lose accuracy), or do I switch to the PR (gaining freezing effects)? Right now you will 9 times out of 10 dual wield.

But if Bungie figures its more fun without then thats fine too.

I rarely ever DW, but I think it adds to the game. Alot of people who DW get to confident when they come up againest someone with a single weapon.

The life and world you see is just a cheery toped and sugar coated version. You know nothing of Hell. Unknown to you and everyone around you is that there is a war going on that you can't see. Now that you know, you are part of it. And if you are going to survive, your going to need to learn to pull the trigger.

i think they should keep it

Dual Wielding is common sense. Any game should allow you to pick up two weapons at the same time that can be held in one hand. It's realistic, it makes the game opener to a larger fan bases than the hardcore pros.

However, dual wielding is considered... noobish if you will, most skilled users can back away from it in most situations however there are those tight knit areas where dual weilding pretty much can pwn the field. In these levels I think the weapons should be scaled down, i.e. the Plasma Rifle + Magnum combo is devestating in most situations. Together, they should not be so successful in a map like Lockout (the underground part), but should be strong in say; Coagulation, where it is an open space and dual weilding should have a 'handicap', if you will.

No. Just No. oh and...

For the people alling duel weilding noobish, they say it like its a bad thing.

The "n00b" PP and AR/BR combo seems to help me win alot in slayer, getting me better scores. So what if its noobish? its strong and good. So don't call stuff noobish coz you get beat by it alot, jut means you gotta get better, instead of making up excuses.

My point is, Some people were calling the Dual-Wielding n00bish. But to me...n00bish is good.

So keep it in bungie.

But if not...Blame amnesia. that falling into a giant hard-metal ship must hurt is head. and body.

Twelve Large ²

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

No. If you can single wield, you can dual wield just the same. Think of it as single wield, but your vision is so -blam!- up you see two weapons. You'll live. I promise.

  • 06.12.2006 4:44 PM PDT

Maybe an option to disable duel wielding in certain gametypes. Just as another feature to throw into custom made gametypes.
