"To me, a nice triple kill with the sniper is infinitely more impressive than any Living Dead Killionaire"

Does flaming people on forums count as an esport?

I'm a commendation/achievement/statistics freak.

Normally if I'm searching solo I'll vote for BTB heavies if there's nothing better available, because to me it's a semi-playable gametype. On a map like Graveyard, Cragmire, or Rasu, it's actually a lot of fun and a chance to use some vehicles you normally don't get much playtime with

That being said, I've played a few games on a map called Asphalt. In this thread, I will discuss the areas that I think BTB Heavies must be strong in to be a fun and interesting experience, the areas that Asphalt fails at. Following are a list of my complaints.

Asthetics- the damn thing is all grey. It's basically a floating box in the sky without a lid. 'Nuff said.

Gameplay-God awful. With the lack of lifts/stairs/ramps/teleporters between levels, the jetpack just begs for abuse. If you don't choose jetpack, you can't get to where you need to be without crossing the entire -blam!- map to get to the ONE lift to the other level. Everyone using jetpack creates a dumbed down gameplay, with strafing impossible in the air and bloom out of control. Additionally, the wide open streets with absolutely no cover slow down gameplay (assuming the teams aren't complete retards who run out in the open without teammates. I understand that larger spaces are needed with more powerful vehicles, but it is impossible to even get a vehicle to the top floor of the map, where most of the open spaces are. TL,DR:whoever made the decision to put this map in matchmaking should be shot in the foot.

Vehicles- The purpose of heavies is to make heavy weapons and vehicles more abundant and available on the map. Graveyard has two tanks and two banshees as well as gauss hogs and plenty of other hogs+ ghosts to go around. This makes it a fun map for many inexperienced players because in normal BTB on a normal map, the Banshee/Scorpion is rushed by a lot of players immediately off initial spawn. However, Asphalt entirely misses this vital aspect of Heavies, offering a Wraith and Revenant for each team along with the regular ghost and mongooses. Borrrriiiiinnnggggg. Making matters worse is the fact that the vehicles work awfully with the map design and weapons on map. They feel out of place and are generally un-fun to use.

Weapons on map- This is probably the closest to decent any part of this map gets. Dual snipers lie towards the center of the map, with a Fuel Rod Gun I believe at the top of the lift. There may also be some grenade launchers around. Other than that, it's the usual BTB sandbox. DMRs all around, focus rifles, a hammer or two, some stickies lying around. That's about it. For such an infantry based Heavies map, this is where the developers could have spiced things up, but the only really unique thing is the FRG.

Spawns- They're decent enough for a BTB map, certainly better than Paradiso or any "first-era" BTB Reach map, but play the map enough and you will get into some long-distance DMR shootouts with enemies spawning right next to your opponents. Some more covered spawning sheltered from too much action would be nice.

That's it. I hate Asphalt for all these reasons, and i think it utterly fails to fulfill its role as a BTB map for either casual or competitive roles. More competitive players like myself are driven insane with the awful map flow and terrible gameplay. Casual players miss out too because of the lack of exciting vehicles or weapons and frustratingly open spaces lacking any cover, value, or interest.

the gun pointed at the head of the universe

I don't think you know your way around the map well enough for this to really be accurate.
