so, we all know we love those damn dropships, but let's explain what they are and do :

THEY ARE GIANT TARGETS waiting to be shot down

they are TROOP TRANSPORTS, so the only weapon on it ain't to fight, but CLEAR landing zones (the chaingun ain't a 360° one, it can only fire what the pilots see)

in mp, they wouldnt give enemies 1 or 2 kills, but 8/12 kills (if the pelic is full) *smile, you have 2 homing rockets rushing you know, you gave the opposite team 10 kills*

they are SLOWER than rockets

they have an open space, so snipers can shoot crew in the pelican

they have a door that closes, but we never saw that damn door closed, protecting the passengers, so i doubt it can actually close

after having fly with pelican 3 times, and got shot down by 40 rockets from n**bs, you wont pilot them anymore, that would annoy you, huh

you wouldnt enter in pelicans neither, because if any team betrayer is in the pelican, he'll crash it and kill you all

pelicans have rocket pods, so it mean a barrage fire of rockets. do you REALLY want noobs to rush on pelicans and kill everyone, camp on the rocket launcher spawn point and pwning everyone ?

still want to pilot one ?

Yep, you are right. Plus they are big and would require a pretty big level.

actually they dont always have an open space...there is a door in the back. second, dont tell me i wont want to fly them or ride them because, i have been killed MANY times in a warthog, banshee, wraith, scorpion, and spectre. you think i care? oh of course now i stay out of any vehicle i see. vehicle = evil death trap from hell....not. i guess there should be no more vehicles...why? Because you can die in them!!!!! i mean come on, i dont know about you but, i dont stop using vehicles just because i died in them. Not to mention, if you really care that much about your score then do one of 2 things.....turn them off or dont use them *gasp*. telling them to leave them out is pretty much saying, "I dont want it so, even though it is toggle-able and some people do want it, leave it out." I still want to pilot one. none of your reasons has came even close to convincing me otherwise. speak for yourself and dont tell people what they will or wont do.

Im thinking the pelican will be able to drop troops into the area rather than land, which takes a while. Besides, it still has a nose mounted chaingun and can be outfitted with missles. It isnt totally useless, and besides NO ONE gets to the top of a game by JUST killing vehicles. Why? I know this cause i have tried, the time it takes to respawn and others to get kills is longer than they are alive, so you, in the end, are left behind. And the pelican will only hold around 6 people, so it wont be that big of a kill.

It's all valid stuff and your points make me not want to fly it..In multiplayer they would be unbearable!! Or "suck" if I'm reaching out to the wider audience. Hence I voted no.

The dude is right when he says some have rockets; and I believe in the context of a war machine they do slightly better in the field than your argument would suggest. It is a military aircraft in the 25/26 century for dawgs sake.

Pelican's (I bet) can strafe and jink whilst firing, can play a heavy support and / or offensive role in ground engagements and play a vital role in QRF. Their designation is dropship but I think Bungie have got more in store for us from the tough little birdies..

(I'm aware of how many have crashed that we know of in the Halo Universe - think of it's modern day (now, folks) equivalent and how many of those have gone down; but they're still smeg hot aint they?!)

Actually I love Pelicans and I would fly one and be happy firing from one. I should have voted yes. Tally ho.

no one can because of many things, but mainly because if you kill a vehicle, you have 2/3 death at the best (a full hog, 3 death, a full pelican, 15 death, that's more huh)
the nose mounted machinegun ain't a 360° degree mchgun, so it can only fire at what the pilot see, the pelican is slow to turn over, so easy to dodge

pelicans have 4x2 seats, so 8 death is still a lot in a BR slayer game (you have 33 kill, and suddenly you have 43 deaths... that hurts huh

Yes, a pelican probably is designated dropship becuase of its payload, thick armor (probably take 3 rockets) and ability to enter and leave the field at a moments notice.

How would 1 rocket blow up a pelican? Have you seen their armor? Its thicker than a Scropions. Im thinking they are made that way so they can take a big beating and still fly.

If they take the Lock-on targeting system out of the game and make the rocket a skill weapon again, then it could be fun.

But if its going to be like it is now, then no

Well, lock on isnt bad if done correctly. The rockets will have to either A) increase speed to make turns harder to make or B) Lower the turn raidus of the rocket. But if you guys undertand, it isnt really that incredibly easy nowadays to kill with the lock on. People are pretty good at dodging in banshees, warthogs seem to always get away just in time or go over a hill just in time, and tanks... well they need to have something that can take them out.

I'm thinking that in 500 year's they will have a missle lock waring similair to what we have today in our aircraft giving the occupant's plenty of time to bail or try and evade the missle, if they dont get out then it's their fault that the other team recieved 8 kill's.

Agreed, its not bad. But, IMO, i had more fun and felt more accomplished with a rocket kill without it. As far as tanks go, if someone needs lock on for that big of a target they should just hand the rocket to another teammate. Plus, i'm hoping for a vented cover(maybe a game settings option) over the driver so you can snipe them like in H1, and not have to beat if off first.

Lol about the poll results, Pelican's still rule in that they cannot be shot down and has a turret that is indestructable.

Yeah, i would like a more open cockpit, even if it is only from the front. I lock on to tanks to ensure a hit, not that i cant hit them, the rockets just hit faster and more accurately and it ensures my second hits them before i get the crap blown out of me, or even if i do.

I love the rockets in Halo 1, very rewarding when you kill someone across the map with them. of course, in halo 2 its still possible with the amazing tunnel visions of snipers.

im sure there will be some sort of evasive manouver or maybe the pelicans could launch flak to destroy the rockets.

Dude...dude...dude...it has a machine gun on the back, so the pilot isn't the only one firing.
