Edit: After war, there were 200 million humans left, but probably lot more now.

I thought there were 19 billion, I read somewhere(I forgot where) that at the beginning of the war there were about 39 billion Humans and 20 billion were killed over the 28 years.

^^ this is correct.
Halopedia is playing their own halo.
Its 19billion human left after war with most of it on earth.

Grunt Beats Everthing

I'm pretty sure "Halo: The Essential Visual Guide" Says it's 200 million people after war...

4 Elites, Thel, Rtas and the two spec-ops troopers you use in campaign with more than two players...they are their species last hope...and they are all male!

There's still hope...

Probably a lot considering Sanghelios wasn't touched by Humans.

42. Also the meaning of life and a multiple of seven.
Coincidence? I think not.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

A lot. Although I'm not sure if the entire species of Sangheili are on Sanghelios. Glasslands never really specified if the Elites had colony planets or not.

I think Glasslands.

The 200 million figure is probably referring to Earth.

How many are left? I was just wondering.

Interesting you should word it the way. The answer is one and a half.

Or enough.

I like to go with: "Enough we can write anything we want." Feels much more....... bungiur.

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

*WARNING* IT IS MY OPINION.

Which it is wrong and inconsistent because Bungie only said that Covenant killed millions during invasion of Earth. Which, Earth had billions! Besides, there is several sources pointing to entire population of 39 billion in the UNSC territory before the war. After the war, Cortana said the causalities of war were 23 billion meaning that there is approximately 16 billion left after the war. Plus, you'd have to consider about birth rates between 2525 to 2557. It would explain that there is such more populations than you think.

If it was 200 million left on Earth, it would set UNSC back to stone age and cause massive collapse of UEG and UNSC itself. Which we did not see it happened in Glasslands (which it is set in 2553). Also Glasslands states that humanity were recovering at fast pace as well. So, yes, 16 billion left sounds consistent and rather, correct for explanation of rapid pace of recovery after the war.

Keep in mind, Visual guide is set in much, lower canon status. Games and books override the visual guides if there is in-contradictory (which there is one.)

Actually, it's about to be touched- see Thursday War (second book made by Traviss).

It's 23 billion, stated by Cortana in Halo Evolutions. Also, Halo: Evolutions confirms the entire population as well. (plus Glasslands further supporting this too.)

^About humanity recovering quickly...

Actually humanity was on the brink of collapse after the war ended due to lack of people, and lack of resources.

all of them?

So the ones I killed on Harvest, on Arcadia, on Shield 0459, on Reach, on the Pillar of Autumn, on Installation 04, on Earth and on Delta Halo were all a lie? :(

Have you read Glasslands? Then drop the argument if you didn't read the Glasslands.

In Glasslands, even implied that Humanity is recovering at ungodly quick pace. And it further solidified figure of 16 billion left as well. So, yes they do have plenty of people left and plenty of resources left (remember that UNSC moved their shipyards, etc to Sol system? And OORT cloud?)

I'm sure that the Visual Guide does not even say that. I've read it and I don't remember it ever stating that the population of Humanity after the war is 200 million.
