HOOBLA 911
This Fornight we interview Hoobla, an average bungie community regular. We've done his community quizzes, its about time we turned the tables!
Q: Lets find out some basic info, who are you and where are you from?
A: My name is Artemis and I'm from Washington state, I live about 20 minutes away from Bungie itself. As of now, I'm 14 and enjoying my summer vacation. I was originally born in Iran (no, I'm not a terrorist) and moved to the states in 1st grade. I've been living here ever since.
Q: Thats an awesome name, I take it that its 'Art-em-is'?A: Yep. Some people call me Arty, and I don't mind that.
Q: So Artemis, your at school, what do you study?A: I'm a bit ripe to know what I'm going to study in college (I just "graduated" middle school) but I'm very interested in math and computer programming. I also like to draw on the side, but that's just a hobby. I'm taking some more advanced computer programming classes in high school and hopefully after college I might land a job somewhere in the video game business.
Q: That sounds like an interesting plan, and Congratulations dude! I also like to draw a bit, the other day I drew this at work.
A: Thats awesome, heres two I drew (halo related) Master Chief & Halo 3
Q: Wow, they look pretty good! What does your username 'Hoobla' mean?
A: My username has a pretty interesting history. First of all, I'm not actually the one that named it. This account was made by my older brother when I was 10. I'm not sure why he named it HOOBLA 911, and now that I ask him he can't remember. I think it may have had something to do with this. As for the 911, I honestly have absolutely no clue.
Q: Haha.. okay then! What was the original first Bungie game you played?
A: Well it's pretty pathetic, but my first Bungie game was Halo 3. Back then me and my brother only had a Playstation 2, and we were about to buy a new console. I really wanted to get the Wii, but my brother wanted to get the Xbox 360. Thank god my brother won that argument. If we'd gotten a Wii, I might have never discovered Bungie..
Q: Ahaha, what made you want a Wii and not an Xbox 360?A: I'm not sure, I think I played Wii sports at a friends house and really wanted to do it, but now we have Kinect anyway so theres no losses there.
Q: Yup, the kinect is pretty boss. How did you get into gaming/how old were you?A: I think I really got into gaming when I was around 6 or 7, with the Playstation 1 and GTA. I also really enjoyed playing the original Prince of Persia game, Sands of Time. It's sort of a predecessor to Assassin's Creed. Once I got an Xbox 360 and played Halo I instantly got hooked.
Q: omg.. GTA birds eye view.. haha the memories! What did you think about Halo, I mean you started played the 'last' game. Were you a little confused?A: I was definitely confused in the campaign and storyline, but after a couple of games of matchmaking I got used to the controls/new xbox controller. After that I did a little research on the Halo plotline and ended up buying Halo and Halo 2. After spending a couple years on Bungie.net, I think I now have the storyline down pretty well
Q: Yeah, the same happened for me, although I played Halo 2 first, which, in my opinion had the best campaign. For you, whats the best part of gaming?A: The best part of gaming in my opinion is definitely playing with friends. Although playing alone in matchmaking is fun, doing the same thing with 3 or 4 friends is thousands of times better. You can talk with each other and even if you end up failing miserably, you all have a good time. That's why I love community gamenights so much!
Q: Awh, that sounds nice! What are your other hobbies/interests aside from gaming and drawing?A: I like hanging out with friends, and although this is slightly related to gaming, I really like going to midnight releases of stuff. I've gone to the Halo Reach and Skyrim midnight releases with small gangs of friends and it was incredibly fun. I'm also going to the midnight release of the new Spiderman movie coming out in a couple days, and that should be fun because I've never been to a movie release before. I look forward to the new experience.
Q: That film looks amazing, i'll see that at some point too. How come you started using your brothers bungie account? Whats made you stay?A: Like my brother, I first used b.net for my Halo 3 stats. Then my brother got lured into CoD and sort of forgot about Halo. I, however, was always a Halo guy. I thought about making my account but I decided to just use my bro's account since it was already there. I stayed with Bungie because I was excited about Halo Reach. By the time Reach was released, I was enough of a Bungie fan to stay with them through the darkness. I haven't regretted it.
Q: Yeahh, you sound like a good fan, so what other websites do you visit?A: Bungie is pretty much the only gaming website I visit. Other than that I keep up with my email and facebook, but that's pretty much it.
Q: No websites like flickr ect to show off your artwork?A: Nah, I normally post any artwork on my facebook for my friends.
Q: Have you been involved in any community projects?A: My picture is in this video (towards the end). Credits for making the video go to insaneAssass1n9.
Q: What about your famous quizzes?
A: Oh haha I don't really count that as a project, more like something to take up some time as we wait for Bungie to break the darkness.
Q: Haha, anything made for the communtiy can be seen as a project! You should continue them!
A: I might make another one, but it probably won't be on Avatars...maybe Ninjas or something. Or Ninja Avatars, since they recently switched.
Q: Well, its been great to talk to and get to know another community regular! Have you got anything you want to say?A: Hmmm....I'd like to thank everyone who's been nice to me. I hope to meet some of you guys at PAX 2012!
Q: Oh so your going to pax eh? Who are you hoping to see?A: I'd love to meet some of our Ninjas, Underdog specifically, and Community members. ChorrizoTapatio, MsCadet (are you going?), and others as well. It'll be a party!
