We all know about the biblical tie-ins in Halo, most notably the Flood and the Ark. In the bible, the flood was brought about by God to wash away the sinners. This tie-in is reinforced by Gravemind refering himself as a "Monument to all your sins", most likely meaning that he is here because of sinners, and intends to 'wash' them away.

Next comes the Ark. In the bible, this structure was designed to hold 2 of every animal, but more importantly to protect it's occupents from the flood. Are you seeing what I'm seeing here?

In short, I believe that the Ark protects it's occupants from the Flood.

Next comes the death of the Forerunners. It's clear that they died by activating the rings, sacrificing themselves and any other sentient life in the galaxy in order to starve the Flood.

Now comes the theory bit. I believe that the Forerunners placed some of their young into the Ark (which is located on Earth), under the watchful eye of a monitor. When the Flood have starved and no longer present a risk to life, the monitor would release the children which would eventually repopulate the Earth, and would likely be joined by any other animals contained within the Ark.

What I'm saying is that the human race is a direct decendant of the Forerunners, which would explain why only humans can activate Halo.

As to why the monitors refer to humans as 'Reclaimers', and Forerunners as Forerunners, I've no idea. Perhaps humans have evolved since the Forerunners died out, and the monitors refer to humans as Reclaimers because they are reclaiming their lost Forerunner heritage of ruling the galaxy?

Just a theory.

Just a theory.

But the best one I've heard so far. Perhaps the "Reclaimer" article has to do with the habitants of the ark coming out and reclaiming the galaxy from the flood.

WOOT!!! Excellent theory, probably the only one that makes very good sense and doesn't involve over-the-top illogical crackpot ideas!

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the theories that involve the books. The way I see it, nothing made unique by the books was actually brought into Halo 2, so why would that change in Halo 3?

Don't get me wrong, I love the books and I would appreciate it if someone where to prove me wrong on this...

One shot: one kill, zero seconds to live

i've also have heard this theory and agree with its possiblity

HHDDVVDDBVD 692 others

OK, yes, it is very true that I'm a dumb ass. I'm not denying that. However, isn't the whole point of a beta to increase the amount of users until you get someone dumb enough to try something you haven't anticipated.
Johnrap - Unofficial Dumbass of Halo 3 Beta

that is quite good

In reply to Crapbasket;

Ah well I'm sorry, I'm a new member and looking through all those other theories is a daunting task!

If the Gravemind is a monument to our sins,

Then is he Jesus?

In my opinion, Gravemind is just part of the Flood, and neither Jesus nor God factor into all this.

Just my theory.

sheer.

genius.

Perhaps, then, the halo rings destroy all life in the galaxy... except for that on earth!? that way, you could discover that in game and have to go out and activate the closest ring... only to find it compleatly swarmed by flood? You would head a task force, along with arbiter, to find the key and activate it... but theres a catch... since you aren't on earth, you would die when it is activated, and then that would be a great ending with cheif's heroic death...

Also, i realized this while typing, the structure in the trailer could be the safe place where you are safe from flood and halo ring destruction.

still, though, genius.

Didn't somebody from Bungie say that the Forunners didn't originate from the SOL System, as in Earth. I seem to recall something like that.

If that's true, then my theory couldn't be true. Unless the Ark was just built on some random, nice looking planet, and not their homeworld.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

no. the bible and halo just have coincidental similarities. why would the ark protect? that defeats the entire object of it.

forerunners not human

ark not protective

end of.

Didn't say that the Forerunners were human, I said humans were decendants of Forerunners, just like in the real world where we are a decendant of apes.

How do you know that the Ark wouldn't protect? Have you played Halo 3, or know something about the Ark that we don't?

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

they have not mentioned it, so it's probably (hopefully in my case) not true.

do you believe every rumour you hear?

forerunners built 343 which refers to humans and forerunners separately. the last firing of the halos was 100,000 years ago. last time i checked, humanity wasn't a race capable of building huge rings and anti-grav technology then.

sorry, you're new aren't you? sorry if i sound harsh.

wow aren't you smart. next time try backing up your claims without just flaming someone for having an interesting and believable theory.

You do raise a good point though. What if all the biblical references in Halo are just a coincidence?

I highly doubt it... bungie is well known for putting stuff like that into thier games.

meh...

sorry for flaming.

EDIT: if when marathon or myth or whatever were released and people imediately latched on to biblical messages, were they right? i don't know, i'd never heard of bunige before halo. keep in mind i'm only 16
