Bungie i just want to try and get a point across, i strongly beleive that MLG will help make halo 3 even bigger than what it will be.

I think that bungie need to embrace major league gaming and really focus on making halo 3 a competetively played game, MLG is getting bigger by the day and in years to come i can see MLG being as big as any sport in the world.

Bungie have the chance of being at the pinnacle of competetive gaming if they follow along the lines of halo 2, in other words dont change the gameplay its already perfect. Keep all the customiseable options, if the games fully customiseable then it can be altered to be as balanced as possible.

Obviously dont stray from the fun factor, and dont change the gameplay we still play halo2 for a reason.

P.S dont remove the battle rifle, i love it lol.

your an idiot. why would bungie not change the gameplay? i dont wanna play halo 2 all over agian with just a different story. i want improvements on the gameplay, something that makes it different then halo 2. if you like the gameplay for halo 2 better then play halo 2 instead of halo 3.

Bungie will probably water down the gameplay even more than they did from Halo CE to Halo 2 to get an even more idiots to buy Halo 3. It really is a shame that the entirety of Bungie has forgotten what makes Halo multiplayer so great.

your a -blam!- idiot, go kill yourself, your a pathetic waste of life. bungie hasnt forgotten what makes halo multiplayer great, they are trying to make it better.

No one should ever be afraid of looking stupid, so long as they are making a rational effort to expand their understanding.

We shall do the same thing we have always done - we will make a game that we think is fun and hope everyone else likes it. So far, we've been pretty successful at that, so I think we'll be okay. And, if the anybody doesn't like the results (like the MLG, or anybody else), they can just play Halo 1 or Halo 2. We really don't take it personally if you like one game better than the other, like some of you guys seem to.

You will be shocked to learn that Bungie does not in fact design its games based on the "specs" found in the forums. That said, we're not blind to the concerns, criticisms and desires of our fans either.
There it is. Bungie will make Halo 3, the skill obsessed jackhole MLG minority will have little say in the game. I'll put game development faith in a company who has been successful at making great games for over a decade over the opinions of whoever thinks they are bestestest players. Get off the top teams nuts. Bungie has designed their games to be FUN, MLG is just a watered down customization of an otherwise fun game. All you need for MLG to be happy is customization. Considering that Halo 2's customization was ten fold better than CE, you can trust that Halo 3 will be further customizable.

I don't think adding MLG would do anything to help Halo 3. Bungie can do a pretty good job by itself.

Yeah, I agree. I think it's pretty crazy that so many of these avid "MLG Players" haven't played a tournament to save their life, and haven't made any headway into earning the right to be a professional, but assert that they are pro's. And these are 15, 16, and 17 year olds doing this. It's even worse when it's guys in their 20's.

For those more famous ones, OGRE 1, OGRE 2, TSqared, it is justified to call them the best. They beat out hundreds of others. There are those, mostly younger people, who think just because they play MLG, they think they are good. It's sad really. It's also sad that people have to blam MLG for everything that is bad about Halo 2. What is bad is what didn't work for the game. That is what improvments are made from for Halo 3. Be gratefull for what is bad in Halo 2. It will make Halo 3 all the more better.

BS.
Just because they beat out other MLG kids doesn't make them the best. They win a select group of LAN parties against a select group of people.

"I'm the best at this game, as long as it's the weapons I want, the rules I want, and the map(s) I want to play on." Give me a break.
Being good at MLG makes you just that - good at MLG. Being good at MLG/MLG-style play does not make you good at Halo 2. Play the game the way its creators set it to be played, wreck everyone, and then you can make that claim.

Beyond that, being "the best" MLG player is, in my opinion, EXTREMELY subjective. If for nothing else, we've all seen the type of player that tends to gravitate towards this rule set.
Can't play unless you start with a weapon that can shoot half-way (or, on some) all the way across the map the second you spawn?
Stand there a -blam!- about it while I pulse fire you to death with dual-SMGs.

It's always SO much fun to kill a guy with "MLG" somewhere in his name, while he's carrying a BR, with SMGs from 30 feet away and listen to him swear.

Don't follow in my footsteps; I walk into walls
my 360s blog

look if a dev team let fans design a game it would be freakin chaos they will make the game as amazing as possible and if need be release a patch or two to fix any buys

Verbose, as usual.

Halo 2 was playtested by bungie/microsoft and soccer mums, the fact that power weapon combo's were not found like the PP/BR was an absolute disgrace. Bungie and microsoft are programmers, not playtesters.

You’re kidding right? I played the campaign on legendary almost two weeks before I got Live, and it took me one trip into that second hanger bay in Cairo Station to ‘invent’ The Combo. I absolutely guarantee that they knew about The Combo before they released it. It remains to be seen weather or not they intended for it to follow us around corners or not.

In my opinion the top 8 teams from a PRO MLG event should get the chance to playtest Halo 3's multiplayer mode. I think that they should get to playtest Halo 3, but specifically as an honor, simply because of where they are in the world of competitive gaming. Play testing a game such as Halo 3 would be one of the highest honors to be awarded anyone in the gaming world. I know that if I got to play test the game, I would not utter one word of criticism unless they specifically asked for it. Even if they did ask, they would most likely get only a hushed ‘wow’. For a group of players to go into the BUNGIE studios and run their mouths off would be such a negative blow to the MLG community, I don’t know if they would be able to ever recover their reputation after that.

If bungie keep this in-house method of playtesting, similar bugs and glitches will no doubt appear in halo 3, weapon balancing will need to updated much like the 1.1 update for halo 2. More needs to done with halo 3, kick the soccer mums and bring PRO playtesters from the MLG PRO gaming circuit.
I’m pretty sure that the BXR was around before they were.
Also from what I’ve seen from Final Boss, they are not as great as everyone makes them out to be. Individually, they have been beaten out by some of my friends from the UK MLG group What Final Boss has is unrivaled teamwork and adaptability.. There is no doubt that they are amazing players, but they are not infallible, and they most certainly are not professional play testers by any means.

Casual gamers > mlg gamers

Casual gamers keep Halo alive not mlg gamers. Out of the 299,280 players in the last 24 hours, how many do you think participate in mlg? Probably less than 1%. A majority of people buy videogames for fun, not for competition. If you want to play mlg in Halo 3, good for you. I'm sure mlg will set up its own rules for it and you can continue to go to sweaty, b.o. infused lan party competiions with pepperoni faced nerds.

You raise a good point. I remember using PP/M6D in both legendary campaign and MP for Halo CE. Also, it is important to note that in the KIA forum Zanzibar, Achronos made a post about how PP works as intended. The thread was a superbouncing thread, where the poster was trying to claim the PP was glitched like the bounce. Achronos countered by saying the bounce was cheating and the PP works the way Bungie intended, citing the 1.1 update and how the PP was left alone.

No, i am saying that its a bad business model to repeatedly ignore fans requests or complaints. Yes, the 1st 2 games did exceptionally well, and i am a fan of both, but by his response, this blind ego and disregard for suggestions will only ensure that one day, maybe not now, maybe not with H3, but one day they will not be as fortunate for the games to sell so well. You have to listen to your customers somewhat.

Ah, so we meet the usual type of people who forget about updates in the prequel of the game to come. Did you actually think about the new playlists? BTB Slayer, BTB Skirmish, Team Swat (Rumble Hardcore, not much of a success, but it was a customer's suggestion)? Please, don't forget about Halo 2 when you start moaning about a game which hasn't been released yet, and even worse, criticise the staff...

MLG is one part of the game dude. People play halo because it's balanced anyone with a bit fo luck can play, but skill pays off. If you had halo for mlg then the story would need no attention so dude we as a community say shun MLG to influence what will become the end to the biggest game franchise in the world, MLG takes no part in the story of the chief and niether do the MLgamers want anything, halo would become to competetive and people wouldn' have fun against people who have mastered major league skills.

Not just a bit dead either. Super dead.

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

I REALLY hope we have a larger FOV like we did in Halo..in Halo 2 I feel like a -blam!- ing baby..you have like 70 degree FOV! wtf! And don't get me started on the campaign maps..everythign is totally squashed together..due to the larger player models...

Go back to the Larger campaign and keep interactible environments, but add some of Halo's featues back (Bullets and plasma don't bounce off of a Hunter's shield in H2, wtf?)

Multiplayer is great with the larger player model, it makes things more fast paced but I think we should get a boost on the FOV.

The last time we had an MLG debate, every idiot with a keyboard signed on here and posted about it.

It's been my experience that customers are generally idiots. They wouldn't know what made a game GREAT if it came up and bit them in the face and then threw them across the room.

It's also been my experience that while Bungie has stated THOUSANDS of times that the MLG people are a MINORITY... And thus won't be CATERED TO (like a true democracy should be) they kept whining and complaining until they got their way.

They think they are above the rules and the way the business runs things simply because they have such big egos and some other company will give them money for winning a VIDEO GAME.

Don't get me wrong, there are SOME nice MLG players out there...

But most of the ones I've met, are all jerks. And I really can't blame Bungie for RESISTING the urge to grant them a playlist for so long. I mean... if someone whined to you every single day to the point that MLG discussion was BANNED from the forums, you wouldn't want to do what they wanted either. ESPECIALLY if they were in the minority.

And I'm pretty sure Team Slayer got a lot more plays than any MLG playlist did. Still does, if I'm not mistaken. I think even Team Swat is doing better NOW than MLG did in its prime...

If you want to enjoy MLG, please do so.

But don't make Bungie put up a playlist just for you. If you don't have friends who can LAN with you, then you should probably rethink what's important to you (perhaps be a little more social?). And if you can't go to an MLG tournament, perhaps you should nab a job like most of us.

I'm not plopping down my hard-earned cash on a game, only to find that much of it is MLG style.

I hate MLG style play, I hate the people who play it, and I hate how dull it is.

I think most people only say MLG is fun because they want to be more "skilled" than they are. Skill is relative, like beauty. It's in the eye of the beholder. Skill doesn't make fun, and fun leaves no room for skill. I think a lot of you say you like MLG 'cause you want to feel better than a vast majority of people who hate it. The fact that you say it's so big and that MLG is so important is a dead giveaway. Just because they sponser contests, doesn't mean they're good, or that it's balanced and fun. You simply take it as "skill" because you don't know what else to call a game that's not fun. Except "boring". And who would buy into a cause that has you saying it's more boring than other gametypes?

Hehe, Click me!

Here's my opinion on auto-aim and MLG. Auto-aim is perfectly fine, Halo 2 and Halo 1 both had auto-aim and it was fine. People complain because they got owned by some little kid because of auto-aim, well guess what, you couldn't kill that kid with your auto-aim, so that makes you the unskilled player. Halo PC doesn't have auto-aim because it is much easier to aim with a mouse than a thumbstick. Bungie should not cater to MLG, because they never have before and it is still the most popular online console game. MLG doesn't make games, they play them.

No one has said from MLG that they think they are above the rules. Tournamets that pay money have been going on long before MLG was founded. MLG really isn't being original in that respect.

Just because MLG is in the minority, doesn't mean Bungie shouldn't add things for them. MLG players play the games for fun. None of them make a living playing in their tournaments. They have to make money other ways for rent, or school, or anything else because you don't always win and it isn't a steady way to earn income.

You say skill is reletive. Fun is also relative. Some people find MLG fun. That is why they play it. Not because it makes them feel better about themselves. I've played MLG for a while and I've gotten better playing it all the time. They call it skill because you have to be good at it. I bet you couldn't beat some of the top MLG players. You know what that says? You suck and they are better. End of story. Good day to you.

Oh, but they do think they are. They are the ones who advocate the use of button combos (cheating) in a game that is not theirs, and every wannabe says it's alright because MLG says it is. Who is MLG anyway?

Noone, the people who say it's okay are the ones who get raped without cheating, then look for a way to get kills, and stumble across some 12 year old with "MLG" in his name..who has also "mastered" the BXR down to where he can do them 4 in a row...then they start cheating too.

It's like a virus, and you know damn well who is responsible for this.

I liked how the original poster compared Sports and MLG...they are so very much alike and I'm sure elite athletes would be happy to be compared to vidiots as well.
