Not gonna happen. With Halo 2, only Bungie employees were able to beta test it, to ensure security. Same will go, especially, for Halo 3. No outsiders

Definetly, some of the obvious things that just didn't get found in Halo 2, would be rectified.

They could playtest online also in a similar way halo 2 was tested online, after a month of play the PRO players would recommend to bungie ideas that could make the game better.

Woah, no I don't want them designing the game. They could provide valuable feedback for glitches and weapon/map balance but I don't think we want gamers suggesting how the game should turn out. Just the fine-tuning maybe.

I like MLG. I play it everyday (acutally EGL which is the Elite version of MLG). I really enjoy it. Well balanced and fun. But this is not what Halo is about (that sounds bad but hear me out).

MLG Games allow for spefically tight rules and no Vehicles. This completely destroys the meaning of Halo (story wise). Halo 2's Multiplayer was based mostly around the story/campaign mode (don't believe me, check Bungie's video page and entertain yourself). Non-MLG games allow for more of that realistic (yet futuristic of course) warzone combat where there is just complete chaos (I'm talking your team is running down a few soldiers when a Scorpion pulls up to kill you, then it explodes from Rocket fire coming from who knows where) a strategic fun.

I believe MLG pro's should test SOME aspects of the Multiplayer gameplay (such as overpowering weapons, spawn points for weapons, spawn points for players, etc.) and that will keep the game in nice Campaign based, balanced fun.

It will be quite difficult, since halo 3 is going to be 64 player battlefield 2 type of gameplay.

So they shouldn't test the game at all. But what they should be able to do is test some of the multiplayer.

That made a whole lot of sense, Poetic Scars.

Excuse the misconception, I was typing kinda fast (I'm doing a lot of things at once and leaving quite soon).

Wow, so far, we're 50-50 on the subject.

Damn, someone ruined it!

I love how people try to push an argument yet in the first sentence manage to insult the opposing party. You can only guess at my vote...

OK, yes, it is very true that I'm a dumb ass. I'm not denying that. However, isn't the whole point of a beta to increase the amount of users until you get someone dumb enough to try something you haven't anticipated.

It's a good idea. Then again, I'm sure Bungie are capable of a trial and error process. BXR, BXB, BLB, BLR, BYB, BYR, etc. Try all the combinations and you'll find the combos...

Beta test will be Bungie, but gameplay testing... I could easily see Pro or average Halo players doing it and doing a fine job. They just can't be well known community members, 'cause if they say they went into Bungie, often people will believe them. Say a loser like me said I went to Bungie, whose gonna believe me? Perfect, I can't give out gameplay secrets that way.

 • 06.12.2006 4:56 PM PDT

If you don't got it, you want it. If you got it, you want more of it. Of course if you don't know what it is, it's hard to get any in the first place.

I like the idea of taking the people who learn the weapon glitches, and spawn points and having them give some feedback.

But I don't like the idea of them playtesting the damn thing. It can be tournament snuff all it wants, but how the hell is it going to be playable for me?

No way, if we let MLG people test it they will "overlook" any potential weapon cancel combos, and we will have another hard-to-punish form of cheating in Halo 3. Leave it to M$ employees.

Do tell me, what is the difference between PP/BR and PP/Pistol? Nothing, anyways why the top 8? What about the rest of us? Just because we cant play all the time, shouldnt mean we shouldnt get a crack at the game. Halo isnt a game created solely for pros, it was orginally designed to casuals

 • 06.12.2006 7:56 PM PDT

They can test it with the rest of us, when it's released. No matter who tests the game, there will be significant testing. Problems that came up with Halo 2 (noob combo etc) were not expected because that was the first time a game had been played intensly enough to bring any small "problem" into light. They will take the data they collect from Halo 2 and apply that to Halo 3.

If Halo 3 had 64 player capability, I'd punch a brick wall. Halo isn't meant to be like Battlefield. 24 players maximum.
