THIS WAS A TRIUMPH. I'M MAKING A NOTE HERE: HUGE SUCCESS. I CANNOT OVERSTATE MY SATISFACTION!
Lobby #3, which actually turned into a complete lobby where we played our own Carnage, is complete. It was an absolute blast, with BNGL Hallway being the closest game in history (with me winning, CrazyT at 99 and he was winning the ENTIRE game, but I caught up with like 10 kills left and pulled it at the last second). This was amazing.
Everybody, it has been an absolute pleasure to be able to set all of this up. It was incredibly stressful at times and it took a lot of work. It isn't as easy as 'OK, put your name here, friend this, and I'll put you on the list and invite you later.' No, a LOT more went on to make this happen (and a lot of hassle behind the scenes!), and I am incredibly grateful for the Community Carnage staff that supported me setting this up and volunteered to host games to make this vision happen.
It was incredibly important to me to have us do something for Bungie Day. Bungie is a company we are all close to not only because they provide hours and days and weeks and months and years of entertainment for us, but also because they are filled with great people that we know put their all into what they do. And we show our support of this group of people that have influenced our lives so much by showing just how much we love their work. It is amazing to have so many of you sign up. If you want some genera quick stats:
There were 14 lobbies.
Three games.
142 sign ups for this game.
Exactly 75 unique individuals participated in this carnage, many of them twice and some thrice!
Nobody that signed up, showed up, and friended the Carnage event before the event started was unable to get into a game.
That is amazing.
This was truly an amazing experience handling this Carnage, thank you everybody so much for your patience and dedication to something I consider incredibly important. This was a fantastic way to end Bungie Day, and I wouldn't want to end it any way OTHER than with the very same community that makes all of this possible in the first place.
Lobby #3 Writeup:
Game #1: Powerhouse/ Headhunter. This game was awesome. It was fast paced and fun. With CrazyT trying to get a Skullamanjaro despite me yelling repeatedly how I had disabled that setting. With the entirety of the blue team ripping me to shreds at one point. However, Red Team pulled ahead and ahead and just managed to always get that last area kill, nabbing them the win.
Game #2: Battlefield Trench/ Trenches. This game consisted of players trying to control five trenches between two bases, the trenches going horizontally across the entire playable area (rather large as well!) but with territories in a line between each base- one for each trench. This was decisive in that Red Team managed to catch the mid-far side Territory soon after starting, and blue team just could not get it back to even the playing field. Thus ending in red team's victory.
Game #3: Team Slayer/ Renegade. A large map with a falcon! The falcon was awesome in my opinion. I stayed with it the entire game. It was a decisive player in this round. Let us just say there were PLENTY of Wheelman medals going around. Add that to the Revenant and things got crazy. Fast. Red Team managed vehicular control throughout the game and, while blue team managed to destroy plenty of vehicles, red team kept stealing blue vehicles for their own purposes giving them the advantage and the win.
Game #4: In Your Base/ Stealin Your Flags. Stockpile. Get to their base with your mongoose. Grab a flag. Run away from the dozens of rockets chasing after you as you make your way back across a wide open field with nothing but the gentle breeze of your buddy's left arm flying past your hair. In the first round Red Team was stunned that Blue Team seemed to do really well. They seemed to be unstoppable- feinting and confusing us. Red Team just could not coordinate in time to stop each assault. Thus blue team ended the round with 8 flag captures, Red Team never quite getting the hang of it but vowing to do so in the end. The tables turned when it was Blue Team's turn at confusion. With daring mad dashes Red Team ended the round with 10. The next two rounds followed in a similar fashion with both teams putting up quite the fight. This game could have gone either way, but Red Team did eventually pull ahead at the end with around 45 seconds left.
Invasion: Invasion Summit. THIS was an epic battle. Round One had the blues on offense. They assaulted us and got the first territory rapidly. The red team had absolutely no chance of stopping that fierce onslaught. One soldier even swore the enemy was a blue monster, with jaws looking like they were cut from his face with knives, towering above them like creatures from the darkest stories. Of course, he is no longer with us, having been killed by a blue monster with jaws looking like they were cut from his face with knives, towering above him like a creature from the darkest stories.
Red team managed to defend valiantly, but blue team found a weakness. One managed to get into what we thought was a protected spawn area, which trashed us and gave those dirty blues the upper hand. They managed to get territory two with but a second or two on the clock. Round three involved getting the core quickly to the base for extraction. Red team defended and defended but the blues got it out. They were but seconds away from victory when red team managed to recover and stop them. When the rounds switched, the FIRST round was the bloodiest. when victory came, the second proved difficult. The third was given to the reds as we all survived our ending onslaught and thus were able to group at the core quickly. The reds won at the end.
Game #6:: BNGL Hallway/ BNGL Hallway. BUNGLE Hallway. What else needs to be said? CrazyT was leading the entire game. I actually looked and for most of the game he stayed a consistent 13 points ahead of me. However, near the end I started to get kills rather than suicides (10 suicides by the way, CrazyT, compared to your 4. So don't blame the suicides!) and got closer and closer. In a game where each suicide is a potential game loser, it was dreadful when you got one. In the end he had 94 and I had 92. He stayed two points ahead and two points ahead. It was then 99 to 98. And I got the double kill a fraction of a second before he got his final kill. Winning the game for the glory of burrito.
Fantastic games, Lobby 3. You are all amazing people, in all the lobbies I played in, and I am honored to have been in charge of an event such as this. Thank you all for your time, and happy Bungie Day.
