Halo multiplayer sucks!

Based on campaigns

Halo 2 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo 3 > Reach/CE tied

Am I the only one who noticed?

There is no way the brutes in Reach are the same species as the brutes in Halo 2 and 3. Compare images on Google.

My theory is that the brutes in Reach aren't actually brutes. They are another secret species in the Covenant who had previously never had a role in co,bat but instead worked on the ships and High Charity. During the battle of Reach, the Prophets decided to deploy them as combat troops instead of the brutes. This species took an interest in brute technology, so the prophets let them take brute weapons to fight with. The humans, amongst all the conflict, mistook them to be brutes. The species turned out to be so incompetent and useless as fighters that the prophets decided to kill off the few that remained after their kind was almost exterminated during the battle of Reach.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Cool.
I think they could still be Brutes, but a different species of them, called Whoopnars.

Maybe they could be like the skirmishes and jackals.

The brutes in Reach could be a subspecies. I'll call them Stompers

Ever wonder what's up there?

I think Bungie missed a huge shot when they decided to add the stiff brutes in Reach, instead of expanding the Elites and their ranks.

I remember hearing how Bungie wanted to give the Elites that "alien feel" back, but I never truly felt it after the first mission in the campaign.

What do you mean stuff brutes?

  • 07.02.2012 7:22 AM PDT

Same could be said about the grunts/elites/jackals in Halo: 4 then.

Seems like a different species of brute.Like how the skirmish and jackals are related.

Yes they do have different armor. But the Grunt in Halo 4 looks like it's a different species of Grunt compared to the others.

The elites and the jackals look pretty much the same. The elites have different looking armour and the only differences are graphical. The grunts are an abomination and so far the biggest mistake regarding campaign that 343 have made.

Halo 2 brutes behaved like ferocious beasts, the only bad thing was that they were damage sponges. Halo 3 brutes look awesome and have awesome weapons but they are too easy to beat.

As far as I am concerned Halo Reach brutes aren't brutes

Except 343 says they are, so they are.

No. Its called aesthetic design change. The Brutes in Halo 2 looked extremely different from the ones in Halo 3, but that doesn't mean they are a different species.

This.

The grunts in Halo 1 must not be grunts then, they had totally different faces.

Drones in Reach don't have rank, must be a different subspecies.

Elites in Reach, H3, H2 are shorter than ones in CE, must be a different species.

Brutes in H2 and H3 look different, must be different species.

Water, your argument doesn't make any sense.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Halo 2's Brute design was the best aesthetically. Halo 3 Bungie took a dump on them aesthetically and dumbed down the encounters by stripping their uniqueness. Reach, they kept the stupid appearance from Halo 3 and went full retard on the encounters. Can somebody explain to me why a half-naked, oversized orangutan can armor lock? What armor is this locking, precisely?

I see what you are saying, but al those differences are explainable. Grunts in Halo CE and 2 have a mask. Drones maybe didn't have rank pre ODST. Elites being shorter might just be the armour, or just elites who aren't as talk. Brutes in Halo 2 and 3 look different because fur was shaved in Halo 3.

But in Reach, they have physically changed the structure of the face. Their faces are flat. In Halo 2 and 3 they had long somewhat canine like jaws. In Reach they look rather more like gorillas.

  • 07.02.2012 11:10 AM PDT

Yeah, this is how I can tell:

The brutes in halo 3 are uglier.

The Brutes in Halo Reach look similar to the ones in Three. The ones in Halo 2 don't.

They don't. I'm not quite sure how to link image urls on an iPad but google Halo 3 brute, look, and then look at Halo Reach brutes. They are completely different. Or just look up brute screenshots on Halo 3 and then Reach. The only reason Halo 2 brutes look different s because they still have fur

Like how the skirmish and jackals are related.

But they have different names. The different looking Brutes don't.
I think that they are the same species, but they look so different because Bungie was tired of the old look of Brutes. They wanted to make them look more realistic, y'know?
