Subject: Changes you would like to see on the Bungie forums

"Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave." -Shishka

I'd like to see these three, for sure.

I think these would be the most useful and would help everyone. It wouldn't surprise me if it does eventually become a feature, which we can only hope for.

I just want some notifications.

But seriously, a variety of notifications, as other have said, would be cool. They would all need to be optional, though.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Name change for member 30+ months old, and can change once every 8 months after if they want to.
Select prefixes you qualify for in the "Edit Profile" tab under the subcategory "Profile Settings".

I like the the member name change thing, but I think it be best if its available to 18 month old member accounts and only available every 12 months, maybe even once only.

As for the prefixes - that might actually work

  • 07.08.2012 9:39 PM PDT

I would like to pick what prefix is in my title instead of being stuck with whatever prefix out ranks the others.

Noted.

OP now contains "Change Prefix" option and updated the "Username Change" option.

I would like to invite you to the most active group there is, Black Water Ops. Boasting over 4000 members this is one of the fastest growing groups and proven to be one of the most active b.net groups. An amazing experience awaits you with weekly game nights, photo contests, and forging contests. This is one decision you won't regret. Welcome to the family!

As someone who made a terrible name choice, I agree with pretty much all your suggestions.

Thanks, glad to know that someone likes the idea of a name change. I do want to say now though that a lot of these suggestions are ones I've picked up from other people and added an explanation and my own ideas.

I presume you mean they may be in your inbox before the message is displayed as being in there?

E.g. Receive message at 10:00
Messages number updates at 10:07

Or something like that?

Added suggestion for more titles and colours for members consistently active longer than Mythic. Colours (ideas) could be 3-4 years; red, 4-5 years; dark red/maroon (Simmond's colour from RvB), 5+ years; white or black (choice of member). These colours are suggestions, check OP for info.

Checking out my profile I see?

I actually like all these ideas, although I'm not so sure about the name change thing.

A lot of people are unsure of the name change ideas thrown about here, and understandably at that. Perhaps one name change every year is too frequent. I honestly can't decide between a yearly option to change or just the option once, although I definitely think it should be an option.

I would like to see notifications as well.

Dear heavenly father, do not allow emoticons on Bnet. I would be very sad.

I do not want to be able to change my name on Bnet. I have enough trouble remembering you bastards anyway without you changing your flipping name every other week.

Good post OP. Good discussion.

As much as this would be good for sorting good and bad threads (a higher "rated" thread would attract more people to the discussion) it would definitely need to have a different name to "likes". Why? I see this word too many times in my day.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Maybe a user name change option.
I agree. The rules should be pretty strict though, maybe members are only allowed to change their name every 2 years or only once per account.

I would love if everybody had single change name option when the New Hawtness comes out. Somewhere on the post (next to the member's title, in their signature, etc.) there should be some text that states what your previous username was.

You just gave me an idea and I've put it in the OP; thanks! I've come to the conclusion that 'one name change per account' or an 'annual username change option' would just be stupid, so I've decided that all accounts made before this "Hawtness" (I still have no idea what that is) would be allowed one username change and any account made after wouldn't be allowed. This would clear any confusion (well, most) and keep things simple.

New Hawtness

It's what everybody is calling the site update that hasn't happened yet. The employees talk about improvements they're working on so we know the "New Hawtness" is coming "soon".

Most other forums don't allow you to change your username. But bungie.net isn't any other forum. For people like me it's useful if you signed up and used your gamertag as your username then changed your gamertag at a later date. My first gamertag was SyK0sAm and I hate it and want to change it, like some other people do. So I did... on XBL, I'm stuck with it on here.

Does anyone think title bar colours should be customisable and overridden in groups? I'm putting it in the OP for now, it seems like a good idea.

Hey I am a big Bungie fan ever since I played Halo 2. I love the series, I love Bungie. I have made a few Bungie logos in my metal shop.

I like most of those.
