Subject: Why Do We Have A -blam!- Filter Anyway?

Spread the love...

I mean, Bungie has made rated M (Mature) games before...why shouldn't we be able to use the same language that is used in the games?

I'm sure this has been brought up before but I can't see a reason for why we have one...was it because this site was intended for a younger audience than the games?

Blackness Confirmed. You've got soul.

The Ultimate Opinion.

A mature community has no need for such language. It takes away from the experience if everyone is swearing all the time.

I cap fools.

I think its pretty funny, when members are badmouthing each other and all you see is a bunch of -blam!-s.

It's not so much that the site was intended for a younger audience, but more that it's not rated by a governing agency and intended to allow for a broader audience. I think.

Edit: I guess they say 13 is the minimum age for this site, I don't know why that is but whatever. Just because they make M rated games doesn't mean they need to have an M rated site. Hell, their next game could be rated T, who knows.

I'd hardly call this a mature community, which is a shame to say.

That makes sense...but if that was the goal, then why is it replaced by -blam!-? Most of the time you can guess what the person is trying to say. If Bungie really wanted to make the Community not use the language, then why not make it so you can't post anything that has the swear words in it? Then you would have to take them out completely.

My mother lurks this website along with many other mothers. They don't have any interest looking at you using -blam!-.

Also, there are better ways to word your posts without hitting the filter anyways.

Just because Bungie's games have been M rated doesn't mean the site should be. Their past games have used very "tame" words compared to what people would actually post.

Sometimes swear words can add to a discussion, but if they're used constantly (and they would be) I believe it would be more of a hindrance.

They want a mature and professional vibe 'round these parts, I believe. I agree with them. Many people don't, though.

Because the chance of abuse is TOO DAMN HIGH! The definition of "Mature" the word, and "Mature" the esrb rating have two completely different meanings

It would be annoying to see curse words in everything I read. On ocassion, it adds to posts, but I've only noticed it in story/fan fictions.

Overall cursing would be an eyesore.

Because saying words such as -blam!-, -blam!-, mother-blam!-, -blam!-, -blam!-, -blam!-, and -blam!- are -blam!- stupid and should not -blam!- be used....-blam!-.

I don't think most people need cursing to express themselves anyway....most people.

Key

It's because they clearly don't want -blam!- cursing on the -blam!- website I thought that was pretty -blam!- clear when you "read" the Code of Conduct and the Terms of Whatever etc. etc.

I mean -blam!- honestly. This site has -blam!- 13 year olds on it. They don't need their -blam!- ears penetrating with this -blam!- bull -blam!- that you guys type on here.

TL;DR: It's Bungie's -blam!- decision to keep -blam!- cursing out of their -blam!- website.
