Subject: Another shot at halo as a strategy game?

Plain and simple. What if the halo universe(particularly centered around the Human-Covenant war) was made into a strategy game like those of the "total war series" by Activision and perhaps extra additions like the world overview to 3rd person control in-game switch featured in "Rise and Fall Civilaztions at War". An example would be managing the economies, defenses and production of a planet and/or system in your empire and ammassing armies and raising fleets of starships to defend your territory and invade the enemy's. Fight in strategic ship to ship battles to 3rd person shooter boarding actions. What do you all think of this type of halo strategy game? What would you think make it better should 343 Industries decide to make a game such as this???

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

That could work. I'd personally just like a more advanced version of Halo Wars to be made. Preferably for PC, since console RTS' have a tendency to go the way of Halo Wars and flop.

If they could make what you suggest work, I'd happily throw my cash at whoever had the balls to make it.

Oh, and I think this belongs in the flood. This doesn't really have anything to do with the Halo universe, and more about Halo games and gameplay.

Halo was originally going to be rts. I don't see why not.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

I'm a bit split here. On one hand, I'd really like to see a Ground Control inspired Halo rts with the same physics, stats and feel as the actual shooter. But on the other hand I think the amount of scheduled Halo content has gone too far.

Ah sorry my bad. Still get a bit confused on what exactly belongs where =/

I cap fools.

I hope Halo Wars gets a sequel

That would be cool because Im wondering whatever happened to the spirit of fire after escaping the destruction of the shield world. But in terms of halo as a strategy game i think it could be a lot grander than halo wars. Its cool using the resources of a single ship but thats not much compared on using every resource the UNSC has in its pocket. Halo wars is pretty linear and i think controling hundreds of units is more challenging than dozens. Lolz would be awesome to perform the "keys loop" in a halo turn based AND real time strategy game.

It's not impossible but, I really wish we'd get some space combat.

Halo Wars 2 needs to be made, and it needs to be on the PC. It seems strange Microsoft wouldn't use the franchise on two separate fronts in two separate genres.

Sins of the Forerunner Empire.

You know you want it.

"You get what you put into it."

When Legendary is too mainstream, you have Heroic. When you're the leader of the church of MLGeezus, have Epic in your username, and can't write 'About Me's' to save your life, what do you get?

This guy. And now, an side note: Most things I post contain lethal doses of sarcasm, so be warned, and try not to take me seriously.

Finally, a message to Bungie trolls everywhere.

*Thinks about this for a second*

I'm for that. Also, there needs to be a Halo Wars 2, for console and PC.

no thank you.
I'd rather stick on my Starcraft and Dawn of war.

Alright, but what would another rts add to Halo, what could it contribute with? Why does the need of playing a science fiction rts have to be satisfied by everything in it having a Halo skin, and Halo story?

Don't see it as a negative comment, see it as a way of challenging your thoughts.

I guess some might say that we still haven't seen any of the grand space battles Halo has been boasting about, and this type of game would be suitable for that. But on the other hand there are many aspects of Halo that we haven't been able to experience in depth, do all of them justify a game of their own? Ex: a sneaker where one plays as an ONI operative (SSONM), an adventure game where you play as a young Forerunner exploring breathtaking environments (Cryptum), etc?

Personally, I don't see why Halo needs to be the bearer of satisfying those rts battle dreams, but if the community might come up with some ingenious reasons for why? ...

I run Skirmish!!!

halo wars was the best console rts game.. Go play that if you want a halo rts.. the reason other console games were not good was that you can only do so much with an xbox controller compared to a pc.. They def need to make a halo wars 2 though, to not make a sequel to a break through rts game is crazy.

but wait, that's right. microsoft stabbed ensemble in the back after the first one.

This Soffish do not eat.

A Halo RTS for the PC could be great - I did enjoy Halo Wars, and though it was well made for a console RTS, but I feel that type of game lends itself well to the PC.

A Halo Wars-like game with more features added could be great fun!
