Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

let's say i make a thread titled what's your favourite fruit?

someone replies with /thread a space below their reply

example:
Posted by: someone
apple

/thread
it's difficult for me to explain this so sorry if i've confused anyone

look at the first reply in this thread and you'll see what i mean

End thread. Although I never understand why people post that in a thread based on opinions.

I'd post this in the flood but I'll answer the question anyway.

It means that the answer given with the /thread after it is the thread ending question. The point when the discussion isn't needed after that point. It's just a sarcastic add on to a post that might have some truth to it. Don't worry about it, it really isn't anything you should keep on your mind or dwell on anyway, it's the internet remember?

It's sort of a joke and I doubt most people even get the idea. Web pages are written in HTML, a markup language, where you write tags by opening them with <tag> and closing them with </tag>. /thread is supposed to be a play on that scheme. (</thread>, but thread isn't a tag so it's talking about the actual thread. Really stupid, IMO.)
