Subject: My Motivation for Return has Greatly Decreased

My spoon isn't the only thing that's too big

Let's face it, the older crowd that came here in the Halo CE and Halo 2 (or even before) days, has very few reasons to return to this website nowadays so it would seem. The only reason why I come back every now and then is curiosity, and then I promptly leave again.

My question is, what is or what should Bungie do in the near to immediate future to keep twenty-somethings like me from leaving for good?

  • 07.03.2012 10:32 AM PDT

Leaving for good because there's no new information about Bungie's next project? That seems silly. Why not simply come back when there is actually information to talk about?

  • 07.03.2012 10:34 AM PDT

Well.. they could get a load of chains and padlocks and tie you up with just a Computer on bungie.net :P

But anyway, everyone moves along eventually, we'll all stop visiting at some point.

Well what kinda things would keep you here? A lot of it isnt Bungies fault its whatever the community is talking about surely?

  • 07.03.2012 10:35 AM PDT

If your interests change, it's not Bungie's job to change with them.

  • 07.03.2012 10:35 AM PDT

I'm not all Gangsta like you, but I haven't been coming around as much as I could. It's kind of like going on the same ride 3 times, it's awesome the first time, pretty -blam!- cool the second, and Meh the third... I come back each time, just to post here and there see if anything I might learn, and see if there is any new content regarding new IP.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

You don't have a reason to return right now, but soon Bungie will have new info and stuff, giving you a reason to return.

I came back after years just to make sure I would be around when Bungie's new IP info and discussion started coming out.

It's not like your only options are to be active or to leave permanently.

Get involved with other communities. Seriously. Bungie isn't the only company or community that I follow. It helps with passing the darkness. You meet new people and make new relationships. You don't have to leave permanently, I'm still fairly active here when I can be.

In short: don't put all your eggs in one basket. Mix it up a bit and enjoy them all.

I think this is a thinly veiled hierarchical thread.

Not that I have any problem with that, but there is still Community here to interact with. If you don't like that, plenty of people in this thread have given you options and recommendations.

From my experience whether it's now, a few days, a few weeks, a few months or even a few years this site will always welcome its faithful and committed members such as you back with open arms.

I suspect llamas are secretly wizards. I <3 poptarts n' milk. I like me. Grimick is defined as: a logical parodox, the act of funnaling a potato down your throat, and a deliciously flavored muffin (with pecons and blueberries). Norway is the Swedish word for 'moron'. My sister has cancer, so i get to use handicap parking and cut small children in line at Disneyland.

"Don't eat doughnuts on thin ice."

"The pancake, my friend, has officially been flipped."

I would come back when there is more to talk about if I were you.

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

Nothing. You are no more important than the rest of the community. Your reason for coming back should be that you want to come back and be a part of the community without being uptight and pretending that the "good ol' days" are any different than they are now.

You speak as if it's some kind of honour that you're still here because you've been here longer. Fact is, it doesn't matter how long anyone has been here and it isn't up to Bungie to present you with things to keep you here.

Wow there's a lot of Blue in this thread.

OT - there's nothing Bungie can do, until we have some real info on Destiny all we can talk about is previous games (which have already been discussed to death).

To the OP - I am in the same boat, I still go on B.net almost everyday and when we have some info about Destiny I will probably post more. But until then all you can do is browse the forums and see if anything else interests you.

well said my friend, took the words out of my mouth. Bungie does not have to cater to just you because you have been here since 2006, which actually isn't as long as some of the other active mythic's on here

Totally, because -- OP just mentioned -- perfectly valid -- just a point -- oh forget it.

OT: Yeah I know what you mean. I guess just come for curiosity or wait until you're interested again.

EDIT: Why is everyone in here getting so booty tickled by the fact that OP mentioned he's been visiting this site for a half a decade? Don't you think it would get boring if you've been coming here for that long, seeing the same threads and discussion, etc., you'd be bored too. That being said, it's really not up to Bungie to amuse the older fans simply because they've grown bored or jaded with time.

There is a billion other more important things that can be done rather than coming to Bnet. I come here for the Lulz. Since there is nothing important happening at the moment, do something else until there is tangible information to digest on their new game and you feel the need to return. Really Bungie doesn't have to do anything. Many game studios have forums where the employees hardly ever post or give updates during development of a major project. Bungie isn't obligated during these times to give us anything or do anything to prevent us from leaving.
