I think this is a thinly veiled hierarchical thread.

Totally, because -- OP just mentioned -- perfectly valid -- just a point -- oh forget it.

OT: Yeah I know what you mean. I guess just come for curiosity or wait until you're interested again.

EDIT: Why is everyone in here getting so booty tickled by the fact that OP mentioned he's been visiting this site for a half a decade? Don't you think it would get boring if you've been coming here for that long, seeing the same threads and discussion, etc., you'd be bored too. That being said, it's really not up to Bungie to amuse the older fans simply because they've grown bored or jaded with time.
Yes, it would get boring. That is understandable.

What is not is making a thread just to -blam!- about how bored you are and to proclaim that Bungie must do something to keep your interest. It's the same thing as someone commenting on a popular YouTuber's video saying that of said 'Tuber doesn't go back to making videos like they used to, they'll unsubscribe.

Go ahead. Unsubscribe. Nobody will be affected but you.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Yeah, it happens.

But, this is the only community where you don't really get flamed for an idea or just talk some random thing on the forums.

Clutchin' is a habit! 7th Column fo' lyfe

I think one of the biggest problems is that the younger people treat this a little bot differently that we did but I agree with what other said it's not really bungie's job to cater to us. If you're here you're here for information which there isn't much of these days. Just something you have to deal with because the quality of posts and the quality of the community is just going to get worse.

The old looks down upon the young in every generation.

I am still a "young" member. People here have been pushing 8+ years, I have been here for barely 3. Some people here are fathers/grandparents, I just graduated high school.

I think though that we should all try and be nicer to the destiny generation. Although old vs young squabbles happen all the time on here.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

Guess your just going to have to wait till the new hawtness. Dont worry about leaving, it'll still be here when you come back.

  • 07.03.2012 6:48 PM PDT

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Apparently I'm considered old now, damn.

Anyway, OP, is there anything wrong with just coming and going as you please? I'm sure this site has an open door policy. Engage with the community and depart at your leisure. There's no reason you should feel the need to be "leaving for good", even if you feel you have no interest at present and in the immediate future you can always come back and check. Perhaps the future will spark your interest and motivate you again--Bungie is after all hard at work on their next project. Perhaps at least wait for that before deciding on taking your leave or not.

Erm... yeah.

This website doesn't directly make them money. The laws of business don't apply. At any rate, They do what they can for the Community. Way more of an effort than most Companies from what I've seen.

My question is, what is or what should Bungie do in the near to immediate future to keep twenty-somethings like me from leaving for good?
They've already given us the tools to setup our own sub-communities centered around pretty much whatever we want... If that's not working for you, then I doubt that Bungie could do much else to keep your interest in the site and still be productive towards their next game.

It's not dying. It's molting. Many (but not all) will leave after so many years.

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

I come back to socialize with people I've become close with over the years. If I didn't have that, I'd likely just leave until Bungie decided to preview or inform us of something new. So, in actuality you could do just that... Instead of basically saying "entertain me now or I'm gone for good". To which I say nobody cares so either take your advice, or mine, but it's hardly worth making a thread for.
