Hello.
Well, I was at work and I began pondering. I read somewhere (I do not remember where) where someone said that another Halo could possibly be the earth itself. And how exactly would that be possible you ask? My theory is, as stated, is that the halo is actually under the earth's surface. Now you ask, how would they get it there? Well, a theory (again, I don't know if I've seen this before if so, good job if it has been) is that the forerunner's actually used a precisely placed warp in slipspace to place it under the earth's surface. Now, in the trailer for Halo 3. The "arc" as it's been called, in my opinion is not the arc at all. I believe that that big thing, is actually a piece of the ring itself. (I wish I had highspeed so i could find what I'm looking for) But, recall what the outside of the halo looked like. Do you remember the little intricate rings on the outside of the ring. I believe that rather than just making the ring look cool, they also serve the purpose of breaking off of the earth. And rather than the ring going around the equator, i believe that the ring goes north and south, pole to pole. Now, the next question is, how do they have all of the landscape in it already. Think of it like this: Under the surface, there's a ring that is there and on the underside of the ring, the forerunners actually have another world being created while it's there. The whole 117,000 years it's been there. If not, they just completely mimicked what was on the earth's surface and created a mirror image. (Or, maybe there is no life or landscape at all and the rings get it over time) Now the reason why I think it runs north and south rather than on the equator, is because, in halo 1 and 2 you can notice that they have a different climate sectors. It could also be said that the way the ring is placed is completely random. But who knows?
Another idea is that the big "arc" is actually aiming at the moon. The moon is another probable place for the placement of the "arc" or whatever. And the whole "ring under the surface" thing could go with it as well, but rather than mimicking the planet or moon's surface and life forms, it just takes on the best life inhabiting form possible. But this "gun" may actually shoot the moon at a certain spot (likely the center) and destroy the moon itself and keep the ring intact by simply using a forcefield of some sort.
Another theory: Maybe this "arc" is a docking station. Maybe for High Charity or the forerunner ship.
Another reason for the moon theory (sorry for the digression) is that if you notice, in Halo 1 and 2 the rings are both orbiting a planet. They could have been moons.
Well, that's my two cents. Feel free to critique it or judge it, just please don't flame.
