Who said they took over, yet? At the end of Halo 2 it looks like Lord Hood is giving them one -blam!- of a fight.

The legend of Croatoan

Once they found large human presence there it's common sense that they would send in many many many many ships to earth and with a large armada whats to stop them from taking the planet.

well for starters in the first update of halo 3 they said it was covenant controlled earth.
second at the end of halo 2 when they show the mc arriving to earth and they show earth. you don't see any mac guns except explosions all over.

Well, you know Bungie. Sometimes they exaggerate.

Don't know how big Truth's fleet is. Reach only had 30 MACs, and it held out pretty well against over 700 ships until the Covenant took out the planetside generators. Earth has 300 MACs, along with the largest UNSC fleet and blockade ever assembled. I doubt they had that many casualties against Regret's surprised battlegroup.

If I were the covenant I would send in wave after, wave after, wave to stop an insult too my religion as for saying earth has a deep religious importance and an "evil" race is on it.

(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

The went to New Mombassa for a reason. At first i honestly believed they had gone there to actually obtain something that would lead them to Installation 05. I was Obviously wrong however, it was most definitely to find the Ark. But then again, why would Regret flee after already attacking Earth? Maybe not to anger the other Prophets? Only time will tell.

very true Seven7h about how the halo 2 teaser was like mostly false. so this teaser could be mostly fasle excpet maybe for a few thinks. also keep in mind the guns only took out 150 ships out of the fleet that attacked reach. as for the largest UNSC fleet that was wasted at reach nicely. and earth only had maybe a hundred at most which is small and ain't the largest.

I think his ship was damaged, they were being slaughtered, they were heavily outnumbered, reinforcements wouldnt be there for a while and he made a cowardly last minute decision.

even if his ship was damaged i think regret left cause it was surprised to see humans were on earth rather than be outnumbered cause the covenant never run away even if they are outnumbered. no, regret prephaps had to tell the prophets that the enemy was on earth rather than flee.

Well you were gone for awhile from earth. And obviously the battle has obviously been going on for awhile when you get there. It will probably explain why in halo 3.

you know at the end of halo 2 when we see earth. we don't see a large armada of ships. did truth arrive before the fleet? then there is no way earth could be taken over and the covenant only attacked new mombassa cause it has something they want. so the rest of earth is irrelevant to them?

Do you guys not remember that Truth was leading that massively huge fleet of ships to Earth? Cortana said that it was the largest fleet of covenant ships that she had ever seen. What about that.

It's too much of a coincidence. After the destruction of Halo 04, the Prophets kept reassuring themselves that more rings would be found. Regret was obviously looking for something on Earth, and it is possible he found something with the coordinates to Halo 05(and fleeing at the same time now that MC made the Scarab bow to him, closing in on his carrier). A blind jump? What are the odds of finding a Halo with a blind jump? The Pillar of Autumn's jump was using what Cortana thought was random coordinates.

well true but when they arrive they have to deal with 298 MAC guns and whatever ships are defending earth. so you know they could take out a large chunk of ships with ease.

Well why would Truth head to Earth if he knew that there were that many MAC guns?
I dont think that he wants to die. He knew that he had enough ships to at least keep the humans at bay.

Well I was wondering that too. We dont know if the whole Earth is taken but bungie does say that the covenant controll Earth and there see mto be a lot of ships there. But how? I know the covenant must have thousands of ships seeing as how they didnt care much when the Chief took out those 500 in first strike, but still. 300 MAC cannons, each firing 1 shot every 5 seconds, each round that finds its target = 1 less covie ship. So lets say half of them hit each time. Thats 150 covie ships gone every 5 seconds. Either they did lose a lot of ships, or simply some slipped by while more are still fighting in space. But it kinda sucks if ALL of Earth is taken.

That's the spirit. And are you sure they're just firing one round? The Cairo's cannon looks like it has multiple firing chambers each one priming a MAC round.

Even with Truth's fleet, there are alot of ships controlled by the Elites of which they and the Brute cruisers are attacking each other. But as the saying goes "Is the enemy of your enemy always your friend?" It all depends on The Arbiter, whether the Elites have their own agenda, whether there'll be a human/Elite alliance, MC's game plan, and when Arbiter/MC sort out the whole mess.

Earth being controlled by the Covenant. That could possibly mean that Earth is wartorn and a fleet of Covenant battlecruisers loom over many of the major cities, not necessarily 'ravaged and barren' as in completely nuked to rubble. What's MC got left to save if the Covenant are enslaving/exterminating the human race? And saving humanity one city at a time...well..MC's got alot of work to do. Better let the old guy get started huh?

About how Regret got past, the Mac gun platforms are a defence grid, if one goes down then there is a small hole into the atmosphere. Regret only needed a way into New Mombasa so he did it the easy way. After Regret jumped and told Truth about the humans he would have already sent a shiload of troops that way. Let's say that shortly after Truth headed to Earth the Brutes followed. And the Forerunner ship is big, very big. It would take a lot more then one Mac round.

Well, for one, Bungie said that the Earth is controlled by the Covenant.

Also, the Covenant fleet that attacked Reach was about 300 ships, not 700. Humans typically need to outnumber Covie ships 3 to 1 to even stand a chance. Truth looks to have many, many more.

Third, Covies usually take over a planet by bypassing the defenses and launching simultaneous ground campaigns- play the first level or two of Halo 2, and that's how they get on New Mombassa, past only a few of the Orbital MAC's- imagine this happening all over the Earth simultaneously.

I can imagine that the Covenant took Earth with relative ease.
