First I would like to note that if you are one of the people on this forum
who like to flame posts on the theories of HAlo 3, please look away now.
If your not interested in this theory, don't post. It's a waste of your, and
what is infinitely (sp?) worse, my time.

Anyways, onto my theory;

I just watched one of my personal favorite movies of all time, Indiana
Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, and noticed something. We all know
how well Bungie bases it's games around actual facts. This is genius in
my opinion, but to my point.

For those of you who have watched the movie, Jones finds the holy Ark of the Covenant a weapon "not of this Earth", as quoted from the movie.

When the Ark is opened, it created a storm and a vortex like shape through the clouds,
much like what we see in the Halo 3 trailer.

Perhaps by doing some research on the Indiana Jones trilogy, and the history of the
artifacts that are in the trilogy, we can find more clues to Halo 3.

That sounds fairly reasonable. Infact, it sounds like you've stumbled apon something there. I'd be interested to see what was discovered from the movies. I'd do it but I'm too lazy.

The Sentinel Beam isn't excluded from Matchmaking due to any performance concerns. It's excluded because it's ridiculous. It may as well be firing super-accelerated clowns. - Shishka

I don't think the based it off indiana jones, but that artifact is indeed in the Bible.

It's from the bible as is most things from Halo..The Covenant, the Flood, Gravemind (Satan), John 117..John wrote revalations..Revalations chapter 1 verse 17..

Read up on this theory, it's great and goes in depth to the ties between Halo and the Bible.

Yes, but I am sure that the Bible doesn't have pictures. We can use this part of the movie as a visual refference. If you watch the movie, a storm JUST LIKE the one pictured in the trailer, is formed when the Ark is opened.

Jesus' second coming is thought to happen like this:

Then, in Heaven, the Temple of God was opened and the Ark of his covenant could be seen inside the Temple. Lightning flashed, thunder crashed and roared; there was a great hailstorm, and the world was shaken by a mighty earthquake.

Sound like the Halo 3 trailer? It got everything except for the Hail..but we stilll got trumpets ;)

I agree with what you started the thread on..The Ark of the Covenant is a weapon, and the Ark is a weapon, though it's not the thing that does damage, but it tells other things to fire, making it a threat..

But so many other things tie in with the bible..like how the Covenant glassed Jericho..how they are always the ones to relase the flood..flood can be seen as both sin, and the flood which covered earth..gravemind can be seen as satan..check that theory out guys, its a great read.
