Look, to be honest, we have relatively little idea of what Destiny is or how it will work.
So realize that what I'm saying is mostly just for the sake of an interesting conversation.
Bungie's community, in the present Dark Ages, is dormant. It has lost much of the momentum it gained in Bungie's Halo era. Particularly the private group community.
What if there was a direct benefit between being a part of a group on this site and playing Bungie's new game. Now, I know many groups on this site aren't related to their games at all, but this would be a strictly optional feature.
Now, there are some rumors going around that Bungie's next title will be a massively multiplayer type game. Not in the traditional sense, but I'm guessing it will have the concept of an online community shaping the world it plays in.
What better way to bring people together and strengthen the community than by rewarding players that get involved in this site and the private group community?
I'm not even sure if this is applicable, but if the game supports things like factions or alliances, having a group feature that directly links us to the in game world would be brilliant.
Anyways Community, this post is really just me rambling. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
EDIT: To clarify, if there is already a preset faction (or something remotely similar) system (pure speculation), each group could join one and identify itself as a subgroup within that faction.
I'm just throwing out ideas here.
